Crayon Embossing Folder Technique

The map background has been sitting on my desk all week,

and I needed to do something with it.

The embossing folder used is called Global. (retired SU)

I tried something new. First I embossed the white cardstock

took it out of the big shot and just opened up the folder.

While the cardstock was still in place I used the side of

a crayon (it had the paper wrapper completely removed)

to color the raised area. Crayon color was blue/green.

By keeping the cardstock in the folder it kept the raised image from

being pushed flat while the coloring was done.

Embossed panel is layered on Marina Mist, and I drew little

dashed lines around it.

Stamps used are from a retired SAB set.

I did the same plane on the inside and added a few dashed lines.

So the Cleveland Indians have won 12 games in a row!

The last time they done that was in 1951. WOW!

Something has lit a fire under them. They are heading to Canada to

take on Toronto this weekend. Lets see if they can make it a bakers dozen.

GO TRIBE!!!!!

First Harvest of the Season

We harvested our first crop of the season.

This is a new crop for us. Hubby has never planted radishes before.

They grew very well. Only thing...I really don't care for radishes.

I found a recipe on the web to saute them. So I tried that today on the

grill, and they were actually good that way.

And forget the old saying "knee high by the 4th of July". Our corn

is up past my chest.

It is growing so well. The whole garden is doing well.

We should be able to harvest the potatoes next. That is another new crop for us.

The Brunswick fair starts tomorrow. We are going to go this year, but I'm not

sure which day. They will be shooting fireworks off on Saturday. Its always so

cool as you can see them very well from our backyard.

My Mailbox was Running Over!

I had such a happy mail day! This is my first pocket letter swap from

the Pocket Letter Pals on FaceBook. Monique made this one for me.

So pretty. Love all the pinks, and gold.

She wrapped it up really pretty with pink tissue paper. She

also used washi tape to wrap it up. Oh and she also used the tape on the

outside of her envelope. Thanks for the great idea Monique! I have a ton of washi tape, so

this is a great way for me to start using it.

Photo of the back with neat little supplies.

I really loved the tassel she made. Great add on for the side of the letter.

Thanks Monique!

Did I say happy mail day? Yes I did. My friend Kat also sent me a pack of

cards. Same design in all different colors with different greetings inside.

Thank Kat!

Did I say happy mail day? Yes I did!

I also received the last of the swaps that I am hosting. I'll be showing photos

of those later as I want the swappers to receive there swaps first before I share them on the blog.

And there were a few more artist trading cards in the mail box.

Yup my mailbox was thrilled, and so was I!

Mailable Monday #157

Good Morning!

Can you believe that June is almost over.

Seems like Summer just got here and its already flying by.

This is an alternate card  made using the June Paper Pumpkin kit.

I like the concentric circle stamps. The washi tape and the sequins are

also part of the kit. The kit came with supplies to fill little banners with

sequins, but I normally never make the kits the way the instructions tell you to.

Seems like I'm always changing them.

Frames for ABC Swap

I'm hosting an ABC swap (anything but a card), and I also

signed up for a slot, so I wanted to post what I made for it.

These are frames I got at Michael's yesterday. They

came in a package of four.

Stamp set Grateful Bunch. Colors: crushed curry, island indigo, rose red,

crumb cake, and jet black StazOn.

I stamped on watercolor paper and colored using an aqua painter.

So lets talk about recycling. I reused the packaging the frames came in to

display the magnet frames.

I cut a magnetic sheet to fit the card board that the frames were attached to,

and stuck it down. Next I cut designer paper and glued it over the

magnet sheet. After gluing a magnet to the back of each frame

I slipped it all back into the plastic packaging.

I was feeling good yesterday and I did some running around.

Went to Pat Catan's, Michael's and Hollos. Also went to the post office

and grocery store. Haven't did that much running around at one time in

a long while.

Friday night we went to the drive in and saw Independence Day Resurgence.

It wasn't a bad movie, but not as good as the first one. Summer is officially here now that

we went to the drive in!

VC Rocks June Blog Hop Cruising with Flowers

Welcome to the VC Rocks June Blog Hop.

Theme is Cruising with Flowers.

I found a video on Pinterest to make this cute holder for

stampin dimensionals, pearls, and rhinestones.

It is perfect to sit on my desk as I'm always reaching for dimensionals.

Front view. I used Botanical Blooms, with retired in line colors. I'm

going to miss them! Just loved Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow, and Blue Lagoon.

This is a clean and simple card. Would be great for my Mailable Monday editions!

Used Grateful Bunch stamp set. The flower was stamped on Hello Honey with black ink then

embossed with clear embossing powder.

Inside card view.

And because June is just full of brides I made this flower card.

Uses Petite Flowers with Blushing Bride ink. I just did an all over stamping with

the same flower. Stamped panel was layered on Basic Gray cardstock, and then mounted

on Blushing Bride base card.

The "love" thinlit is retired. It was also done in basic gray.

Inside view. I left it blank so I can add a greeting later.

Don't forget to check what the other designers did with flowers.

Go visit VC Rocks blog.

Bird Crazy 4th of July

These birds are so ugly they are cute!

I stamped the bird on watercolor paper and then colored

with distress crayons and a aqua painter

The hat was die cut with real red, an daffodil delight cardstock.

Designer paper Tim Hotlz. The side design was cut with the

new swirly scribbles thinlits.

And since I was making a 4th of July card....

I went ahead and made ATC's for the month of July swap.

I like how the stars on the paper show in the birds eye.

Flag stamped on watercolor paper, and again the coloring was

done with distress crayons and aqua painter. It was easy to bend

the damp watercolor paper after the cutting was done. I makes

the flag look like it is waving.

Summer Mason Jar Themed Pocket Letter

Well I was in the mood to make a pocket letter.

This is only the second one I've ever made.

Used die-namic Mason Jar Mug die.

The designer paper is from Cloud Nine, and I'm sure I've had

it for almost a decade now. LOL

I wanted a summer theme, and the mugs

look like they are filled with ice tea, or lemonade.

A closer look at some of the jars. I used gold striped vellum to create the straws.

When I bought the die I also bought the matching stamp set. It has

some great words in it.

I used washi tape to cover the flap on the side of the page protector.

Then I punched the little jars with a punch by EK Success.

I also used that same punch to attach trims to go into the back of the pockets.

Here is the back view.

I had fun making this one, and I found someone to trade with. So

I'll be making a trip to the post office sometime today.

Happy Birthday to a wonderful young lady Amber. Hope you have a great day sweetie!

Susan Hambley Nature Center

We went walking at the Susan Hambley Nature Center last week.

Just wanted to share photos. Its a little wooden path that is part

of Brunswick Lake.

This marker is at the front of the park along with......

this little bridge.

View of the lake. I'm happy to say that the city completed the bike

path and it now goes around the entire lake. You can see the Towne Center on the other side.

Can't wait till I've worked up

to riding my bike that far.

Look! Skip caught a photo of a blue heron. We first hear it land and I knew

whatever it was it was bigger than the ducks, and geese that hang out around the lake.

It made a large splash when it hit the water.

He also caught a photo of the heron taking off.

Our favorite tree in the park. It is so tall! Still haven't figured out what type

of tree it is.

Awww hubby gives the tree a hug.

Tried to get a photo showing just how tall the tree is, but I didn't capture it.

We are taking a little drive to old Brooklyn today. Going to

visit a fun store that I have been wanting to go to for some time now.

I'll be back with pics of that later.

Another Tag, Happy Birthday, and Vacation

I made another tag. This one is just layers of ink

over some stencils.

Stamp set Live with an Open Heart by SU.

I have an idea to make a tag book using the black and white family photos

that were past to me from my mom. Some of them she didn't even know

who they were, but I hate the thought of throwing them out so I'm going

to make the book. I've been gathering things together and I'm almost ready to get started on it.

Big SHOUT OUT to my friend Kat who is celebrating her birthday today.

Hope you have an awesome day Kat, and get lots of goodies. If you have cake

eat a piece for me!

Yesterday was the first day of hubby's vacation. We took a walk around the lake.

I have photos to share so I'll be posting those tomorrow. We saw a blue heron and

were able to get some photos of it.

Tonight we are going to the drive in. They are playing some "throwback" movies

Smokey and the Bandit, and Death Race 2000. Those should be good

drive in movies.

Mailable Monday #156

This card came about because I found a piece of designer paper

in one of my cardstock drawers. How it got in there I haven't a clue.

I think it was a leftover piece from when I mounted the canvas art.

Anyway I decided just to stamp on it. I used Awesomely Artistic stamp set.

Colors: Crushed Curry, Night of Navy, Always Artichoke, and black ink.

I sponged from the lower edge through the middle and ended at

the opposite corner. I still thought it needed something so I used the background

stamp with white ink and stamped only where the sponging was done.

There is going to be a full moon tonight. This has not happened on a Summer

Solstice in the past 70 years. Going to be the longest day of the year. Now if only

I could find a stone circle..........(Outlander)

Kat......Just a wake up!

Oh the CAVS won last night! OMG the Cleveland sports curse has been lifted!!!!!

Shadow Box Frame

This was a fun project to make. I love making 3D items, and this

little shadow was perfect for me to try.

Before I get to far in to the post here

is the link for those who also want to make one.

The shadow box is made with a 11x11 inch piece of cardstock.

I used Nice Cuppa, and the matching framlits to decorate the frame.

The greeting is from the Perfect Blend stamp set.

I added a white paper doily to the bottom of the frame.

 Side view.

The kettle is flush against the frame, and the teacup is attached with

a double stack of pop dots.

This scored scrap is a leftover piece from the first attempt.

I used the scraps from the brown frame to make little boxes.

I sat in the stamping studio yesterday morning and worked out the size and

score lines needed to make lids for the bottom of the boxes. Also

added a square of designer paper to the inside bottom as a liner.

My friend Ceil will be so proud of me for using the scraps instead of putting them

in the garbage.

Sarah is coming over today to celebrate Father's day with Skip.

Planning on having a cookout.

Everyone enjoy the day!

More Artist Trading Cards

I received happy mail a few days ago from

my friend Marianne.

We swapped artist trading cards.

She did some great work using the Northern Lights technique.

This is still on my list to try.

Thanks for the inspiration Marianne!

I also received some other ATC's from the Pennywise group I'm in.

I like how this one was in a library pocket. I never thought to do

that before.

Mason Jar Banner

I made a banner for my kitchen hutch using a mason jar die,

and themed wine designer paper.

I cut out 10. The jar lids were cut using corrugated cardboard I got

from a box. After sponging the edges with brown ink they were

added to the jars with pop dots.

No stamping was done on the jars. The the edges were sponged.

I thought the paper was to pretty to be stamped on.

The jars were then attached to twine using mini clothes pins.

It was very muggy yesterday, and we got lots of rain.

At least the garden didn't need to be watered.
