Halloween Cards to Beat the Heat

We are in the middle of a heat wave here. Some schools

closed early yesterday, and some are closed today due to

no AC.

Yesterday I was at Betty's doing some stamping, and made

Halloween cards. Great way to beat the heat..crafting in a nice air conditioned home.

Here is another one that I made.

Stamp set used Jar on Haunts by SU!

Now since it was hot I still got my walking in. Yesterday we went after 6 so it wasn't as hot.

Today I went early to Brunswick lake and hiked around the peninsula a few times.

Right now it is sitting at 94. Thinking this summer will break the record for

high temps.

Stay cool out there, and don't forget to drink plenty of water.

Disney Themed ATC

I needed to make some Disney themed artist trading cards for a swap I'm in.

Since I don't own any Disney stamps I used some stickers that I

picked up at Pat Catan's yesterday.

The castle on the card was made with a Halloween die that I

got at Michael's. The magic begins with you is a stamp from Stampin'Up!

The set name is Magical and Mystical, and it has long since been retired.

Both Tinkerbell, and Olaf are on the outside of the shaker packet. Gives

the cards a little more dimension.

Hope my partner enjoys these.

Oh a little tip...the background on the Olaf card is actually part of the packaging

that the stickers were in! Also the words on the right are from the package. Talk

about getting more bang for your buck!

Creepy Unicorn, and Mermaid for Halloween

I picked up a few new Halloween stamp sets while at Michael's last

week. Love the creepy unicorn! The background done with

distress oxide ink. Outside edge embossed with black powder then

outlined with a gold sharpie marker.

I also sprayed it with pearl mist.

From that same set a creepy mermaid. Love her!

I found the quote on the internet. There are lots of mermaid quotes. (who knew)

Most of the quotes were pretty long so I selected the one that would fit on the artist

trading card.

This one is also embossed with powder around the edges.

Beautiful Horse Sketch, and Back to School ATC

Emily sketched this beautiful horse while

she was visiting on Sunday. Love how she

draws. So amazing to watch her.

I'm still working on some back to school artist trading cards.

This will be the last one this year. The image of the girl on the stack of books

I received in one of the many swaps I do. Background paper is from a pack I

got at Tuesday Morning last year.

Sarah and Melinda at the Zoo, and ATC

Beautiful pic of Sarah, and Melinda at the zoo.

We went to a bridal event at the zoo yesterday afternoon.

So fun.

Planning a trip back to see the Asian lights. Did get to see Willy. He

is the bull elephant, but since we were there for the event we couldn't tour the

entire zoo.

Some more artist trading cards I made to swap. These ladies are from Dylusions, and

called rightly enough "Fancy Lady"

Background done with Distress Oxide ink.

Today I'm off with Betty again to the bridal store they have in

downtown Medina. Who know what trouble we will get into.

Fiskars Tiny Little Haunted House

Had some time yesterday afternoon to play with my

new stamp set by Fiskars called Tiny Little Haunted House.

So cute! This set not only has the house and roof, but comes

with many other spooky stamps for a total of 43! Joann's is selling them at 40% off this week.

What a deal!

I used gray cardstock for the house. Wanted to be

able to stamp on it and still have the images be clear.

Love the boarded up window.

and the last side. I used thin black wire attached to the roof

so I could adhere the ghost.

He looks like he is hovering above the house.

Of course I plan to make several of these in different colors, so

I can display them for Halloween. Finished size is 3 1/2, by 2 1/2.

Heading out to pick up Betty this afternoon. Going to meet our daughters and

attend a bridal fair. Betty's daughter Melinda just recently got engaged, so

the fun in the planning is just starting!

And so it Begins....PUMPKIN

and so it begins......PUMPKIN!!!!!!!

I was at Marc's yesterday, and while I was checking out I spotted

this displayed on a end cap. Much to my hubby's dismay I picked one up.

You readers who know me also know that I love pumpkin, and Fall is my season!

I had one of these this morning with my coffee, and it was so good that I ran

back up to Marc's this morning and picked up a few more packages. Pumpkin

stuff flies off the shelves quickly. Can't wait for more "pumpkin" finds!

Tails from the Lake

Can you see the fawn?

Taken at Brunswick lake while we were walking last week.

Closer look. The fawn turned it's head to look at

another hiker on the path.

and right across from the baby laying behind a fallen tree is mama.

Isn't there always that one family member that is totally different from the others. LOL

Couldn't help but to snap this one. Never saw a white duck on the lake before.

Tiny turtle popped up for photo.

and this one was on log. I think he needs a spa day, and a date with

some turtle wax.

Had fun with my friend Betty yesterday. We to an outdoor art show in Medina Square.

It was a beautiful day to be out and about. Later we drove up to Fairlawn and hit

Michael's, and JoAnn's.

I was good, only bought one new stamp set. Love this haunted house set!

I'm going to have to go back and pick up the gingerbread house. Kicking myself now because

I didn't get it yesterday.

Girls and Ladies ATC

I worked on some more artist trading cards yesterday.

The little dolls were some images that someone sent me

in a swap, and I just had to color them.

Patterned paper is from the 'Hippie" pack by DCWV

These two images are from Dylusions called Fancy Lady.

The background was sponged with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks.

After stamping the images I just added a few sequins.

Today I'm off with Betty to downtown Medina for the art show.

That should be fun. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Back to School Theme Mini Pocket Letter

The kids here in Brunswick will be heading back to class on the 20th.

Not to far away.

I joined a back to school theme mini pocket letter swap, and

here is the finished piece.

Mini pocket letters are only three pockets instead of the full sheet of 9 pockets.

This image came from an old See D's set that I found in with

my clear stamps. Love that little "vintage" boy. The patterned paper

I found at Tuesday Morning.

Used the same paper for the center pocket. The banner is actually

attached to the outside pocket.

Last pocket uses Tim Hotlz paper dolls as the focal point.

Love the little locker pattern paper that the girls are standing in front of.

Mickey ATC Book

I found this fun sheet of patterned paper at Joann's

while shopping last week. Since I've been collecting

Disney themed artist trading cards I wanted to have book to put them all in.

Inside cover. Added a few stickers.

and for fun I added some shaker pockets.

I think today I'm going to take it easy and just rest. My neck has

been hurting again. Just can't seem to heal.

The Meg starts this weekend, and I know hubby wants to go see it. Should be

a good drive in movie.

Coin Size ATC

Just posting a few recent swaps.

This is a called a coin size artist trading card. The circle is 2 1/2 inches.

Stamped on pink patterned paper using oh Elle stamps. Image colored

with Prisma pencils.

Used the same paper to make this standard size artist trading card.

I really like just the back image of the girl.

Another coin this time using Tim Hotlz stamps.

anyone want a cup of coffee? Not now since we have been in a heat wave!

Travel themed trading card. Stamped on a map.

Not much going on here. We had a kick butt thunder storm last night.

Great to watch it at 1 o'clock in the morning.

Of course the kitty was scared out of her wits!

How Does Your Garden Grow Farmer Joel?

Hubby went out the other day and did some harvesting.

I was surprised to see ripe grapes!

The corn is just about gone, and it was so good. I normally don't

like corn, and even I enjoyed it.

The tomatoes are trickling in. I'm sure by the end of next week

I'll have them up to my ears, and will need to start freezing them.

For now I'm enjoying eating them right out of the garden. So good!!!

Happy Birthday to my friend Marianne who celebrated yesterday, and

to Connie who is celebrating her birthday today.

Oh Elle Stamps

Little swap I did. I found these stamp sets

at Hobby Lobby last week, and I just love them!

Called Oh Elle and made by Stampabilities.

You know how I love my doll stamps!

The coffee container is from a stamp set by friend Kym sent me.

I used a craft pick to make the stirrer.

The image was stamped on patterned paper, then colored with

prisma pencils.

Be back tomorrow with a few more things I made with Oh Elle.

Message in a Bottle Gift

So when was the last time you mailed a gift in a 2 litter bottle?

Never you say? Well I put together this beach theme

bottle for my friend Marianne who's birthday is just a few days away.

She received it so I can share it on the blog.

You just clean out the bottle then make sure it is dry.

Next take a craft knife and cut a slit in the center so you

can fill the bottle.

The cap is glued on so it won't come off during shipping.

The label is stamped, decorated, and addressed before attaching to the

bottle with clear packaging tape.

Such a fun way to send a gift. Great way to send fun things to your

collage kid as well.
