Guy Cards from Paper Pack

Made some guy cards this morning. 

I find it hard to make cards for guys. 

Felt sorry for my hubby as he told me the other day

that I didn't make him a birthday card this year. 

Well I was going to, but I was sick. Told

him he would get a nice card for our anniversary this April. 

This set of cards are based around a 6x6 paper pack by Recollections called

Whiskey Barrel. I picked it up several years ago. 

I added a few stamps here and there to the cards. 

I like how this one turned out. 

Most likely will give this one to hubby for our anniversary. 

and the last one. 

Enjoyed visiting with the kids yesterday. 

Made lots of food for brunch. Later we all went 

for a walk around the lake. Such a lovely day. 

More nice weather today. Of course suppose to rain all day

tomorrow so I'm planning on enjoying being outside today.

By the Tide Card for Joe

My friend Joe and his better half Kat are still vacationing. 

Joe has spent almost all of his time enjoying his favorite pastime...you

guessed it fishing! 

All of the photos Joe has been sharing on Facebook of the fish he

has been catching inspired me to make this card. 

Stamp set By the Tide. 

I used the negative image I had left over from last weeks Sketch

Frenzy Friday to sponge in the oval on vanilla cardstock. 

The fish was stamped with Jet Black StazOn ink. 

I added some chevron ribbon and twine to the lower half of the card. 

Sarah and I had a great time yesterday doing some wedding shopping. 

We got some stuff for the table center pieces. We have it narrowed down to two designs. 

She and Jason will be making the final choice. I also

picked up her guest book. It was perfect as it is covered with burlap and

had vintage ribbon and a twine bow on the front. I'm changing out the 

small flower in the center of the twine bow with a small sunflower. 

At some point I'm going to cover a few pens with burlap and a small 

sunflower at the top to go with the guest book. 

We also stopped and had lunch and a small kid size ice cream. She is 

watching her weight before the wedding. Something I need to do as well.

Guy Greetings To a Classic

Working with Guy Greeting again. This is such a cool vintage set. 

Totally me! 

To dress up the stamped panel I used the fringe scissors at the bottom. 

I also used some new washi tape from the Occasions catalog.

 

What's a car with out a racing stripe?

Take a Tip Tuesday

Since I got such a large stamping order from dear hubby I've been

putting the stamps together and using them.

Name of this one is Guy Greetings. It is new in the upcoming Occasions Catalog. 

Love the vintage look of this great set. 

The designer paper is from a paper pack called Adventure Bound, and is sized at 4 1/4 x 6 1/2.

 

After cutting the designer paper at 4 inches to be a layer for the card I was left 

 

with a narrow strip. Since I didn't want to throw it away I used it on the 

 

inside of the card. That way I carried the card front theme to the inside and 

 

used up that scrap. 

 

 

I also cut a 1/4 strip of Basic Gray to layer 

 

over the top of the designer strip.

Happy Birthday Hubby

Happy Birthday to a really great guy....my hubby Skip. 

We had his birthday party on Sunday, but I wanted to wish him Happy Birthday on

his birthday. He is working today, but I'm making one of his favs for dinner...Spaghetti. 

Just a simple no layer card using stuff from this years Sale-A-Brations. 

See Ya Later stamp set and Sweet Sorbet accessory pack. 

I also used Dictionary background stamp with Sahara Sand ink.

Base card white. Basic Black ink for the greeting. 

Summer Starfruit twine. 3/4 inch circle punch used on top and bottom of 

card to hold the twine in place. 

Normally this time of the year our temps are in the low 40's. Well no such luck with that....

the next 10 days we are not going to get out of the 20's. Wind chill this morning was -5.

Follow Your Dreams

I have a graduation coming up. His school colors are blue and gold so I used Night of Navy, and Daffodil Delight cardstock. 

Stamp set Word Play.

Cap is 2x2 inches and I ran that through the lattice square embossing folder. Tassels was made with white crochet thread. 

Not much going on this weekend. Enjoying the warm weather. I am going to pick up MIL Katie this afternoon. My nieces have a piano recital later in the day so we are going to go watch them. Its always fun to hear all the kids play.

Sense of Time Bottle Cap

I thought a bottle cap would look great in the clock face from Sense of Time stamp set. I do really like how it turned out. 

Color Pallet: Vanilla, Basic Gray, Soft Suede, Sand

Got all the Easter decorations put away for another year. 

Since the holidays are over till the 4th of July I'm going to do some Spring cleaning, maybe that will make the warmer weather get here! 

 

Burbank picked up a cold. Poor baby. His eyes are watering, and he is sneezing. I told him that is what happens when you lay out all night. 

Going to have to watch him to make sure it doesn't get any worse.

Happy Mail

Mail person filled my mailbox with a package from Kat yesterday. She made me a stack of guy cards. How cool is that? You can never have enough guy cards. Great job on them!

She also surprised me with some cool SU embellishments, and something I really needed....a flannel pillow case for my body pillow. It was so nice to cuddle up with it last night. Thanks Kat!!!!!

I have to swing by the grocery store and do shopping today. John informed me last night that there was nothing in the house to eat. Well of course that is not entirely true. I have run out of a few things, but I can still make a meal its just that John doesn't have things that he can make for himself when he decides he's hungry at 1 in the morning. Kids. 

Also will be babysitting this afternoon. Going to try to get in a walk before I have to drive over for bus pickup. So nice to see the sunshine, and to be a bit warmer!

Clean and Simple Guy Card

It rained all day yesterday. Not just a gently misting rain I'm talking raining cats and dogs rain. It let up for 10 minutes around 5 pm so I ran out real quick and picked tomatoes. There were a ton of them red on the vine. I picked two baskets full and I know I didn't get them all. 

Simple card today. Crumb Cake base, cream, More Mustard and Cajun Craze layers. Word Play stamp set. I had these brads that look like upholstery  tacks, and thought they would look good. Card is sponged with Soft Suede.

I didn't sleep so good Sunday night. Went to bed early but then got up at 2. My legs and knees were bothering me and I just couldn't get comfortable. So I got up made more cards, played on the computer, watched The Honeymooners, and finally fell asleep on the couch at 5:30 then got up at 8. Rough night! 

 

Today I'm going to finish up the guy cards, and maybe go visit my mom in law.....got to get rid of some of these tomatoes, and I know she loves them!

More Guy Cards

Still working on those guy cards. I used Established Elegance stamp set with Early Espresso ink. Strip of Not Quite Navy cardstock, brown brad, and a key at the bottom of the card to finish it off. Clean and simple.

On this one I used some "Vintage" designer paper by Stampin'Up! I don't remember what the name is but the colors of the paper are all Chocolate Chip and Vanilla. The date on the paper is 06 so I've had it for quite a while now. I need to blow off the vintage dust and use this stuff! I thought the stripes on the designer paper went well with The Open Sea stamp set. I used the round map of the globe as a moon for the ship to sail under.


Was really hot here yesterday. Got up into the 90's. I did get my 45 minute treadmill in before it got to hot in he garage, but the temp was reading 80 in there. What a way to sweat off the fat! LOL

Pretty relaxing day. Got some stamping done, watched a movie, then took a late evening bike ride with Skip. We were going to go out to Applebee's yesterday, but I decided to stay at home, as I had some food that I needed to make. I got to grill salmon. That was really good!

Pinterest Case Guy Card

This was such a great guy card that I found on Pinterest that I had to CASE it. Love the way the designer paper was used as books. I used the simply scored tool from SU to make score marks in the paper to make them look like book bindings.

Here you can see a close look at the words used. Lately I've been on a guy making card kick. I never seem to have a good guy card in my stash when I need one so I figured I best get busy and make some.


Speaking of busy.......we washed 3 cars yesterday and waxed one. That was a workout! It was pretty hot outside. I started off with bare feet, but the soles of my feet got pretty hot and to the burning point on the hot driveway so I had to put the shoes back on. After we cooled off rested and had dinner we headed out to the park for a nice long walk. It was nice as John helped with the cars and also went walking with us. Great day!

I have to share with you....after my weigh in yesterday and a 1.2 lost I am exactly 30 pounds away from my personal goal weight. So as a visual I'm using 30 pearls in a clear jar and will move them over to the empty jar as the weigh loss journey continues. I'm feeling confident that I can make it. Seems fitting for me to use pearls in the jar to represent the pounds. I just love pearls!
