Sneak Peek Winter Journal

 Just a sneak peek at a winter journal I'm making. 

The snowmen are from a very old StampinUp! stamp set. 

I colored the image with prisma pencils, and layered on silver

glitter paper. 

The page next to that has multi pages that flip

over for more journaling space. 

Bottom layer was embossed with a snowflake folder. 

So nice to see the sun come out yesterday. While it

was still cold on our daily walk it felt warmer cause the sun

was brightly shinning. First time I've seen the sun all year! 

Actually it was the first real sunshine we've had here since the end

of November. So it was a real treat! 

After the walk I had to stop, and get my meds. Then we stopped off

at Wild Fusion, and got lunch.

Cute Baby Pic of my friend Kathleen

 

My friend Kathleen, and I have been swapping things to use for 

our junk journals. This week she surprised me with black and white photos

of her as a child, as well as some of her family. How sweet! Love them!

While at Hobby Lobby last week I found this Sizzix die set

on clearance. Couldn't pass it up. Tried it out yesterday using

a baby photo of my friend. Used cream cardstock for the base to

give the card a vintage look. 

I think it turned out pretty awesome. Love that you can make

the camera into a shaker.

Harringbone Technique

Playing with some paper scraps yesterday. 

My desk is a complete mess as I've been working 

on a 8x8 album swap. So much for 

cleaning as you go. When I get to crafting the paper

falls where it will. 

Technique for this is calling harringbone. After all

the strips were glued down I ran it through a hexagon embossing

folder. Love the look! 

Going to be raining off and on today, but at least it is cooler. So happy!

Graduation Card

This is a special order graduation card I made last week. 

Happy to say that I made most of it using my new Cricut machine. 

Have to say I have been loving this machine. Still have a lot to learn with using it.

Elephant Baby Cards

Made a few baby cards this week. 

Don't think I'll need them as no one I know is expecting.

Here is the second one I made. Love those cute little elephants!

Rained most of yesterday. Me and hubby did find one

small window in the afternoon when it stopped, so we got

in a walk. 

Today is suppose to be beautiful! Hubby needs to plant

some more of his seedlings in the garden. Can't wait

to have fresh veggies again.

Another Vintage Birthday Card

Back with another vintage birthday card. 

Used different things to create this. The Paris themed embossing

folder was inked first with a light pink ink then I put a piece

of cream color cardstock in it. I like the soft look

of the pink just around the raised edges. 

Added two paper leaves, a part of a doily, and

a vintage button to finish it off. 

Closer look of the finished piece. I used Prisma pencils

to add color to the woman. 

Planning to craft more today. Not going out much as I'm 

trying to stay away from the general public. They are

saying now that 1% of Ohio is infected with the virus. I'm sure

that percent will grow.

Vintage Woman Birthday Card

I've been working on some vintage birthday cards. 

With my 60th birthday coming up this year I thought why not....

I'm going to be pretty "vintage". 

The woman stamp is by stampibilites. Picked it up at Hollo's. 

Used the same Spellbinders die set Elegant Ovals that I used

on the handmade envelope I posted yesterday. 

Love the way these ovals layer together! 

Added some green leaves under the woman layer. 

She was colored with Prisma pencils. 

The doily is actually square, but I folded it over the embossed layer so

only half of it shows.

Remember Vintage Lady Card

Isn't this a lovely image? This stamp was one of the 

Christmas gifts that Betty gave me. I've been

itching to design a card using this lady. 

Now while the stamp is new the other things

used are not. 

After I stamped, and colored the image I thought the

white background around it was plain and pretty boring. 

I didn't want to run the image with an embossing plate, but

I did want to do some embossing. 

So I took an embossing folder put the image inside, and

used my tiny little hammer (remember these coming with eyelet kits?)

to emboss just the white areas I wanted. Scared the cat when I started

pounding, but she got over it.

You will see a gold heart in the corner. This is actually 

 

an old earring of mine. 

 

I went through my jewelry box and collected some things

that I don't wear anymore. Only had one of the heart earrings as 

I lost the other one. Had to get hubby to snip off the post part so

I could use it on the card. 

Anyway pieces, and parts of the jewelry are keep in this

"vintage" bicentennial jar. Don't know if it shows up well in the photo

but it has an eagle on the front. Here I go showing my age again! I was only

15 years old for July 4 1976

I have one last thing to share.

Hubby got me a new rug for my craft room. I did

have a blue area rug, but it was so worn. Since I couldn't

find a rug I wanted he took it upon himself to get one for me. 

I must say I love the earth tones, but I can't help thinking "catch the wave"!

Have a Boo-t-iful Halloween!

So its going to be in the 90's today. 

I can't believe it! No end in sight for this Fall heat wave....by the

way happy first day of Fall. 

This is card was fun to make! 

Lets start with the background...

I was in a heat embossing mood the other day. I ran black, white, and

cardstock weight vellum through a spider embossing folder. Next

I lightly went over the raised parts of the web with VersaMark ink. 

Sprinkled on some iridescent ice embossing powder then heat set. 

The completed black layer was adhered to a white base card. 

The boots, and greeting were from a set that I bought some years ago. 

Now I can't even remember which company made them, but I know I 

bought them at Archivers. 

Colored the boots in with color pencils, and highlighted with a stardust gel pen. 

The greeting is popped up over the cardstock, as is the which hat is from a Tim Holtz set. 

Here is a view of the inside. The greeting is from a SU stamp set. 

and here is the card I made using the cardstock weight vellum.

It looks better in person as I don't think I had the camera angled right to pick up

the ice embossing powder. 

So I hope everyone is enjoying the hot weather on this first day of Fall. 

I'll be creating away in my craft room, and keeping cool!

Pumpkin Card, and Blog Candy Winner

I know....I know I'm in full Fall mode. 

Sorry can't help myself! 

I used some old and new things to make this card. 

Embossing folder is an old one by Darice. 

After embossing the brown layer I used a craft knife to cut out the center part. 

The stem was made using a thin strip of green cardstock that

I rolled up. 

Went to Tuesday Morning yesterday afternoon and 

picked up this paper pack. Used some of it to make the pumpkin.

 

 

To create the pumpkin I used the wide oval punch. Edges of the 

 

three ovals were sponged with pumpkin pie ink. The entire pumpkin

 

was popped over the layer. 

 

 

and the leaves are the oldest thing I used on the card. 

They were made by Prima Marketing, and the bottle is

dated 2003!  

Okay we are seeing tons of pumpkin stuff on the market now. 

and I love pumpkin maybe more than the next girl, but I draw the line at this.....

Really? I saw someone post this on FB. I'm wondering if it is a joke. 

I'll have to check the grocery store next time I'm out. Can't believe this

would be an actual product! LOL

Vintage Beautiful Lady Card

Beautiful vintage lady card. 

The stamps are from Hero Arts, and came with matching dies. 

Lady stamped on Smoky Slate cardstock using Basic Gray ink. 

The only color I added to her is on the cheeks, and lips. 

Thanks to my crafty buddy Kathleen for sending me the little

cameos. The cream vintage lace was added around her collar then

the cameo was attached. She was also popped up over the 

the cream layer of embossed cardstock. 

Here is a side view. I added some stamping to the inside as well. 

The embossed layer is also popped over the base card. 

Love the vintage doily edged washi tape. 

and here is the inside view. The set came

with the large upper body image, and the smaller

full body image. Gotta love stamps with matching dies. 

Makes crafting so much easier. I mean I like fussy cutting as

well as the next crafter, but matching dies are my friends!

Got a call last night around 6  from my son. He goes how ya doing.

I told him I was fine. He goes I'm in the hospital. On his way home from

work a female driver made a left turn out in front on him.

Both of them are okay, but John banged up his wrist pretty good, and

got a cut on his head from the air bag going off, but nothing broken.

The car is totaled. I told him we can replace a car can't replace him. I was

going to dye my hair a few days ago. I'm glad I didn't now cause after yesterday I'm

sure it would have gone gray again. Scary to get a call saying your child is at the hospital.

So we will be busy trying to find him another car.

Coffee and Friends are the Perfect Blend

Anybody want to come over and join me for coffee? 

Made this card yesterday afternoon. 

I kept the color palette pretty simple. 

Kraft, white, and a bit of green designer paper. 

The accent buttons are orange. 

The embossing folder is from Tim Holtz. 

I lightly sponged Soft Suede ink over the raised images. 

Yesterday we had a beautiful day. Perfect temps in the 

mid 70's. Me and hubby went out and enjoyed a nice walk. 

Of course it had to rain later in the day, but it held off long enough

for me to get dinner grilled. 

Sending another shout out today to my friend Connie....

who like my friend Kym yesterday is turning something, something.

Donut Worry

Here is the card I made using that new Darice embossing folder

I purchased on Sunday. 

So any Stampin'Up! customers out there still have these beads they came

out with eons ago? 

I still have several packages of them, and thought these would

look good as sprinkles on the donuts. 

For the donut worry embossed image I used a marker to color over the

letters so it would stand out more. 

Didn't want to cover all the donuts with beads as I thought the card might be to heavy.

Going to the Medina Fair today. Should be fun. I haven't been to a county fair in years!

Seashell Layered Card

Here is the card I made for my sister in law for

her bridal shower. 

She's doing a sea themed bedroom, and thought

that she would enjoy this card. 

The seashell embossing folder is mad by Darice. 

I cut two of them. One white, and one in Pool Party cardstock. 

Both were popped over the stamped panel.

I run it through the big shot I hand cut around the embosses

edges. 

I'll be posting photos of the shower tomorrow. 

Sarah took me out after the party. We visited the beach and 

a Pat Catan's store......more about that tomorrow.

Hey Chick in Blues

Hey Chick! 

I colored the chicks with Prisma color pencils.

No framlits for these so the birds had to be fussy cut. 

No problem I love to hand cut stuff. Kind of 

relaxing for me....like washing the dishes. Am I

the only one who still hand washes the dishes? 

Okay I digress. 

I embossed the pool party cardstock with a barbed wire 

embossing folder by Cuttlebug. Layered that on black then 

added to the white base card. I like these colors together. 

Going to be warmer today so I think I'll go check 

out the local craft store. Haven't been to Pat Catan's for 

awhile and I'm starting to have crafting withdrawals.

Mailable Monday # 186

Welcome back to another mailable Monday. 

I'm a sucker for anything sewing, corset, or dressmaker themed. 

Found this single stamp this weekend while out shopping at 

JoAnns. 

The lace embossing on the side is a folder made by SU.

The buttons across the bottom is from a folder by Cuttlebug. 

Didn't put a greeting on this card. Going to leave it blank. 

Here is a photo of the stamp. 

I'll be heading out this morning to take a class at the Election office. 

They asked me to be the manager at one of the polling locations

again, so I need to go take the class. Which is a good thing because

I didn't get to do that the last time. I just got a quick overview and

had to read the materials. So doing the process hands on will be 

much better for me.

Just a few new things I picked up at JoAnn's the other day. 

They were on clearance so what else could I do? Just walk

on by them and pretend they weren't there calling my name? 

And you know I'm a sucker for Tim Holtz stuff. 

Really love the pop bottle caps embossing folder. Yes I'm 

from the North and we say pop not soda. The package

also has a tape measure folder. Perfect to go along with my sewing stuff. 

The other two pack has clock faces, and gears. They will be great for

guy cards.

Adding to my layer stencils with this sunburst. 

I also got Tim Holtz Tattered Leaves die. Which was also on clearance. 

I had a good class at the Brunswick public library last night. 

We got started on making an art journaling book. I'll share photos when I get more

pages done. The teacher Suzanne has a degree in Arts. Very nice lady and helpful. 

Its a three night class. One more next week, and the last one in October. 

Well time to say goodbye to Summer. Today is the last day. Going to be 

in the 80's so I'm going to go out and enjoy it. Can you believe that Fall starts tomorrow? 

Where did the time go. Only 9 more days till my birthday. Hubby asked me yesterday

what I wanted and I told him I didn't have a clue Normally I know the answer to that

question. I'll have to think about it.

Sunflower Anniversary Card

My daughter and son in law's 1st year wedding anniversary is

coming up on the 12th. Since there

theme was fall and sunflowers I decided to make 

this card to capture that wonderful time. 

I used a Sizzix sunflower thinlit to create the sunflower. 

I just did several layers and sponged the edges with Chocolate

Chip ink. The designer paper is also SU, not sure from 

which pack but I know its retired. 

The flower is layered on a white panel that was embossed 

with the lattice square folder. 

I love how it turned out, and I hope she loves it too. 

Not sure where the summer went, but here it is September already. 

I got an early birthday present when Kat was here. 

Isn't this ring beautiful? Even better in person. I just 

love, love, love the elephants! 

The elephants go all the way around the band.
