Scrap Happy Sunday #6

Sorry I have been missing in action for the past few days. 

Trying to recover after Thanksgiving and Sarah's birthday. 

With all the cleaning and cooking I was just to tired to stamp. 

I'm back today, and well rested. 

Today's card was made using a stamp that Betty found for me at Hollo's. 

It is a retired SU stamp, and part of a set, but I don't remember which one.

Hollo's split up some retired SU sets and were selling some of the single stamps for

as low as .50 each. What a deal! Thanks Betty for thinking of me! 

Love the shabby chic elephant! 

The greeting came from an old See De's stamp set called

Morsels Phrases, and Sentiments. 

While I was digging out the Christmas tree from the crawl space I found

an entire box full of See De's stamps. 

Take a look. A few of them are from different companies, but

most are See De's. When Pat Catan's was selling them for a buck

years ago I purchased a ton of them. Can't very well pass up

one dollar stamps....can we? 

The house is decorated for Christmas now. I'll take a photo of the

tree and post sometime this week. I decided not to put up the large tree. 

Went with the Barbie tree instead. I haven't had it up for two years now,

and was missing my Barbie ornaments.

Scrap Happy Sunday #5

Welcome back to Scrap Happy Sunday. 

This is the 5th card I've made using that scrap bag I showed you

5 weeks ago. 

After making 5 cards I see that I haven't made a dent in the scrap bag! 

So I think I'll be making these for awhile. 

I used SU stamp set Tap, Tap, Tap. 

Love that set! 

See the little strip of burgundy showing. That

my dear readers is mulberry paper. 

Every once in a big life time I pull some out and use it. 

It rained cats, and dogs here all day! So didn't get outside much.

Me and hubby did hit the grocery store early yesterday, and picked

up the turkey. The big guy (18pounds) is chillin out in the fridge defrosting. 

The menu is all planned. There of course will be prep work, and baking

before Thursday. Looking forward to it!

Scrap Happy Sunday #4

This card has been sitting on my desk all week. Well

let me rephrase that....its been sitting in pieces on my desk all week. 

The scraps are from that scrap bag which started this Scrap Happy Sunday post. 

At times I am at a lost to figure out what to do with some of it. 

You can see from the bag that that punched out butterfly was done on a folded piece

 

of designer paper. My first thought was to turn that scrap into a shaker element. 

 

The piece wasn't cut at all I used it as is. Added a piece of acetate to the opening then

 

used Darice foam strips to make the space for the sequins and beads. 

 

 

So everything was going well. Got the shaker made then thought it looked plain. 

 

I tried to free hand draw some antennas to the head, but I didn't like it so

 

I added the lace, and bow to try to cover it up. Then I added the different color

 

smaller butterflies. Still don't really like it as I think it is to cluttered. 

 

 

Now I do like the other side of the card. The little caterpillar was already cut and in the scrap bag,

and the color sort of matched the designer paper so I used it. The leaf sprig, and greeting,

are from a SU set called Butterfly Basics. 

I stopped at Pat Catan's on Friday, and got some Halloween stuff that was on clearance. 

So never have I ever seen washi tape this large before! There are three rolls in the package

and each of them are 2 inches wide! Got it for a good price at .75 cents. 

The Martha Stewart washi tape was 3.00 which was also a great price. 

The raised stickers were .30 cents. Great deals!

Scrap Happy Sunday #3

Still working on that scrap paper bag that has been sitting on my desk

from 3 weeks ago. The bag seems a little lighter now, but I 

still have lots of scraps in it!

Today's card is a simple note card that I pieced together. 

The flowers in the center is from a piece of designer paper. 

Broke out the chalks to add color to them. First the yellow then

a few light swipes of red along the edges of the roses. 

The wider black strip was embossed with a narrow scallop folder. 

I used some leftover strips to add interest to the inside card. 

Most of the time I add a greeting, but decided not to in this case. 

When I send the card to someone I'll add a greeting to fit the occasion. 

 

After looking at the finished card this could also be used as a mailable Monday card

 

as it doesn't have any embellishments, and no layers. All the strips are butted end to end and

 

not overlapped. 

It is suppose to get into the 70's today! JOY!!!!!

Looking forward to spending a lot of time in the great outdoors today!

Scrap Happy Sunday #2

Hey everyone. Sorry I've been not updating my blog

this past week. Just taking a break. Working on 

some swaps that I can't share now because the ones

I'm swapping with have not received them yet. Also have 

been working on getting the house ready for winter. Joy.

Speaking of winter.....We got snow flakes yesterday right

here in Brunswick. Big white wet fluffy flakes. Didn't last long,

and was fun to watch. So today's Scrap Happy Sunday card fits right in. 

Remember last Sunday I posted that I will be making cards using only the items

that I found in this scrap bag

Lots of pieces and parts to use up. 

Okay back to the card. There were two tags in the bag.

One navy, and the other one white glitter paper. 

There are also several oval white tags. So I stamped one

with the snowman and used prisma pencils to color it in. Added some

sparkle with wink of Stella. 

I thought the base card was missing something so I added some hand

drawn lines with a navy marker. 

I had a scrap of the glitter paper left so I punched a few....

little frosty snowmen. Isn't it cute! I have an very old retired SU snowman punch 

that I used. The hat was punched with navy cardstock. 

That is all for now. I'll be back tomorrow with mailable Monday, and should be

on track to keep the blog updated daily.

Scrap Happy Sunday #1

Okay I'm going to challenge myself with a bag of scraps I found

in one of the drawers in my craft room. 

This card is completely made from scraps with the

exception of the base card. 

The leaf layer I made a few years ago, and must have

had an extra that I wanted to keep. Of course thinking I would use it at

some point. I don't like to throw any piece of scrap away. 

The dark brown layer was also in that scrap bag. It already had

the border at the bottom punched. 

So here is the bag I found. Its full of junk! 

I'll be honest when I found it my first thought was to trash it. One

less thing taking up much needed space in my stamping studio. 

However I started pulling stuff out of the bag, and decided that I was going 

to use every last piece. So each Sunday starting today I will be posting a card or

project that I made using what's in the bag. For an extra challenge I'm not going to cause more

scrap by adding to the bag. The only extras I will use is a base card, stamps, and embellishments.

That means no extra cardstock, or designer paper will be added. 

Now I wonder how many things I can make with this "found" stuff?
