Princess Birthday Cards

So this is what I was making yesterday afternoon.

My friend Kathleen had made me two of these cute

little princess dolls last year. Found

them while cleaning up. They needed to be on a card!

Here is the second one.

Last week I found a Disney Princess paper pack at Marc's for

1.88. Got two packs of them. Used as layers for both of the cards.

Here is a pic of the paper packs. I just love Marc's!

I always find something in the close out area to use for crafting.

We had leftovers for dinner. Had to clean out the fridge.

I did make pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. Used up

the last of the pumpkin puree that I had in the freezer.

Today going to visit Costco as I need a few things.

Altered Playing Card Valentine ATC

Since this is the last week of January I wanted

to get my February artist trading cards made.

Used a standard size playing card for the base.

Then I covered most of the card with vintage sheet music.

I only left a small corner exposed to show the number, and heart of

the card.

Next I brushed on some white gesso where I would

be stamping the heart.

Heart was inked with black archival ink then

colored in with fired brick distress ink.

The ticket was stamped on a piece of yellow pattern paper.

Before adding the ticket I used the sewing machine to add the stitches.

Alternated between straight stitch, and zig-zag.

Edges were sponged with vintage photo ink.

The two little hearts were made using a punch. I then added glossy accents, and dusted them with

fine glitter.

Lots of steps making these, but I really love them!

I also decorated the envelopes. How fun!

We got just a bit of snow yesterday.

It was warm enough that it didn't stick.

Got Chinese food for lunch after our walk.

I'm finished re-organizing the craft room, and the annex.

The annex that I'm referring to is the the closet in the quest

bedroom. Yes I took over that area also.

Now that everything is sorted, and in it's place I'll

be able to craft with wild abandon!

Let's just hope I'll be able to remember where I put

everything. LOL!!!!!

Snowman January Junk Journal

This is the January junk journal I made for my friend Kathleen.

She received it last week so I'm good to post it now.

Love this very large snowman stamp that I used on the cover.

The hat, scarf, and mittens were stamped then cut from pattern paper.

Frist page. I used a cd paper holder for the inside. It was ran through

a snowflake embossing folder.

Lots of pages that have flip outs, and tuck spots.

I used an old Christmas card for this one.

I used some more recycled Christmas cards for pockets.

Side pocket with tags for journaling.

The little snowman here started is an artist trading card.

Center of the journal.

I used furnace tape for the pockets after I ran them

through the snowflake embossing folder. Love the texture!

The snowman here was colored with Prisma pencils, and

layered on silver glitter paper.

More flip outs.

Another recycled Christmas card. I added

a little snowflake charm on the paper clip.

Snowman cover notebook. Love the silver paper that came in the

paper pack I used for this journal.

and just for something different I made a belly band

to hold the snowman notebook from a strip of star fabric.

I backed it on a piece of light weight cardboard before I stitched around the band.

Thought the band needed to be stronger to hold the notebook.

Well Kathleen said this is her favorite journal that I made for her. She

always asks me to send her snow when we get it here in Ohio so I

thought the snowman theme journal was perfect for her.

Tags using Cancelled Postage Stamps

Did a little online class last night.

Made some tags using cancelled postage stamps.

Used a mix of stamping, and ephemera to decorate the tags.

Added some lace, and hemp twine to the tops. Coloring

done with Primsa pencils.

Made three different sizes.

This is the largest one. The charm at the top I got at Pat Catan's before

they closed. The cancelled stamps I got from my friend Kathleen.

She sent me a lot of them. Thanks!!!!!

Found the bee cancelled stamp, and I thought it would

work well with the flowers.

The tags will be used in my junk journals.

Will be spending the day cleaning up the mess I made yesterday.

Still trying to reorganize all my craft stuff. Going to purge and

get rid of things I don't use anymore. What a job that is!!!!

Spoke to Sarah yesterday. She got her first shot of the Covid vaccine.

Work arranged it for her, so she didn't have to pay for it.

Retro Valentine Cards with Matching Bag

Made some retro Valentines. These are for a swap I joined.

The world was made using a die by Tim Holtz.

Stars were made with a punch using gold glitter paper.

The image is from a sheet of pattern paper I pick up at Hollo's paper store

last year.

I'm second guessing myself about this one.

A little unconventional because I used black glitter bat

washi tape. Was thinking it went with the what the girl was saying

Batty about you.

I added the little hearts thinking it would tie it back to Valentine's day

and the batgirl is holding a heart. What do you think?

We were also required to make a decorated bag to hold the two cards.

I continued using the retro theme on the white bag.

Added some lace hearts, and pearls. The bag was first covered

with the same paper I used on the Batty card. I also

cut a piece to adhere to the inside bag.

I'm very happy with how this little project came together.

Hoping my swap partner loves it.

John and Emily came over yesterday, and I made everyone brunch.

John requested salmon patties with a ham, and cheese omelette.

Emily wanted chocolate chip pancakes. We also had fresh fruit,

orange juice, and coffee. We had a great visit. Good to see them again.

Since they both got the virus in the middle of December we kept our distance, and

didn't see them over the holidays. Which was really hard on me.

Thankfully they both recovered, and are back to work.

My First Little Golden Book Junk Journal

Made this little golden book journal for my friend Kym.

She received it yesterday, so I can post it now.

Found the little book at the goodwill. The binding was

removed, and I increased the spine. The book was now bigger to add

the journal pages. Added book corners to the front, and back corners. I also

used a hitch post to keep the book closed.

The added chipboard spine was covered with fabric. Pamphlet stitch

used to bind the book.

The story was kept intact, and can be read from

start to finish. I got lucky, and found a

sign language book for kids at the local library. They sell used books.

Any who...Kym learned how to sign, and she does so at her church.

I wanted to personalize the journal for her.

Won't show all the pages, but you can see that I added

some texture paper, pattern paper, and stationary throughout the journal.

Some pockets with additional handmade writing paper.

I really liked this printed vellum butterfly paper.

Envelope folded in half and inserted in the pages.

Holds pull out cards for more writing space.

I love adding pockets, and little tuck spots in my journals.

Center of the first signature. I added washi tape along the bottom.  This book has two signatures.

I added pages to the actual pages of the book again this gives more

writing space.

When I added the extra page to the book page I used

strips of pattern paper. I think it gives the pages some interest.

another pocket with a pull out page.

side triangle pocket with tag, and more writing paper.

another pocket. This one is a double pocket. The butterfly

is a pocket, and the cardstock it is attached to is another pocket.

On some of the pages I added a tri-fold pull out page. Gives

some more writing space. The pull out is held closed with a paper clip.

Here is is closed.

Vintage sheet music, and more sign pages.

the basket page I added because I was thinking of the story of

baby Moses in the reed basket.

I also inserted a time card. I think the reason I

love junk journals is that you can add anything to them.

Now I look for "hidden" junk all the time to use in journals.

Added this card as I thought it went with the flowers on the printed page.

I added color to the card using distress oxide inks.

The little mini book at the top is also made from junk

pages. Held on the page with a hidden paper clip.

Here is the last page, and back cover of the book.

I'm so happy with how this turned out. I think Kym was really

happy to receive it.

I'll be making more of this Golden Book journals.

Wouldn't this be a great keepsake. Use a favorite book of child, and

turn it into a journal either for the child, parent, grandparent, or godparent.

Stitch Altered Playing Cards by Kym

I received these in the mail the other day from my friend Kym.

She took some playing cards, and altered them.

Love her stitch work.

Planning on using these in my journals.

Will make great journaling cards.

Snowing again today. I got to walk yesterday,

but won't be going out today.

I'll have to rely on my recumbent bike, and my indoor

walking path I created. Not too bad as I get to

watch tv while I'm working out.

Making a pot of vegetable soup now. Needed something

warm on this chilly day!

Rest of the Doll Cards

I'm back to share the other three cards I made using the dolls my

my friend Kathleen sent to me.

Used two different dies to make the layer, and greeting.

All of the cards were made with a birthday theme.

This one has a tag that was made with a die. Added seam binding at the top.

and the last one. I couldn't believe that I found

pattern paper to match her dress. What luck!

Going to have a bit of excitement today. They built a Chick-fil-a here

in Brunswick, and will be open today. They are not having a Grand Opening due

to Covid. I'm so happy they built one. It is even in walking distance for me.

Of course hubby isn't happy about it as he doesn't like their food.

Really?????

Dolls on Cards

Two years ago my friend Kathleen made me these cute little

dolls. They have been hanging out on my shelve in the craft room, and

I have enjoyed looking at them.

Well yesterday I decided it was time to use them on card fronts.

Here is the first little darling! I made

all the cards with a birthday theme.

Simple designs as I didn't want to distract from the dolls.

Just did a layer of pattern paper, with a greeting.

For this one I also used a oval die cut to layer the doll on.

She is blue because she missed someone's birthday.

I'm wishing now I would have stamped the greeting in black as

it would have shown up better.

I'll post the other three cards in tomorrow's post.

Today I'll be making some peanut butter banana bread. Got

some nanners that are ripe, and just begging to be made into yummy bread!

I'll also be making a pot of soup. Not getting out of the 20's today with

more snow on the ground. I'm going to try to stay warm!
