Odds and Ends Bucket Card

I have a little bucket on my desk. Its used to hold

bits, and pieces that have been leftover from projects that

I made during the week. This card is a result

of some of those bits, and pieces.

All I really needed to add was the base card, and the greeting at the bottom.

I like it!

May have to make a card every week now just using scraps.

Now that will be a challenge!

Valentines from Friends

Last week I received this beautiful Valentine's day card from my friend Kym.

Love the stitching work, and the little clowns. So sweet!

Inside view. More stitching, and clown images.

Don't think I've seen her stitch a greeting on the inside before.

Cool!

Also last week I received some cards from the Happy Mail Ladies FB group.

Always wonderful to see a mailbox full of happiness not bills, and junk mail!

Although lately I'm finding myself saving some of that junk mail to

use in my junk journals. It's a mad, mad world! LOL

Yesterday was a hard day. My brother Tony has been gone for

14 years now. Miss him all the time. Was so touched that both of

my kids contacted me yesterday to see how I was doing, and to

talk about Tony. So sweet that they have many good memories of him.

Fabric Snippits

On Sunday I joined an online class to make fabric snippits.

What are snippits? Well you just use bits, and pieces of

fabric, and lace to layer onto a piece of cardstock.

After it is all glued down you can add some embellishments.

On this piece I added the resin blue flower, and string of pearls.

Not bad for my first attempt. I have made snippit rolls before

using different pattern paper scraps. So this concept wasn't completely

new to me.

I also made a fabric cluster.

This was done over a cardstock circle base, then the layers were added.

I put a lace flower on top and sewed the button in the center

through all layers to secure.

There are two more layers under the blue one. I'm

wishing now I would have cut graduated circles so they

would all show. Next time for sure!

Nice to work with fabric for a change of pace.

January Mixed Media Art Journal Page

Since I didn't do a mixed media art journal page for January

I thought I'd double back, and make one.

This was so much fun! Can't believe how many different things I used

Here is a list of them: book pages, ink, stamps, thinlits, stencil, embossing

folder, white acrylic paint, pewter stain spray, doilies, charm, napkins, lace

modge podge, gesso, and Tim Hotlz icicles.

I placed them along the top of the page using fabric-tac.

Is there anything that stuff won't hold! So wonderful!

This page all started with a piece of copy paper that was folded in half.

Only the front is decorated. The rest of the page will be using for journaling.

Going to make one for each month then at the end of the year I'll turn it into a journal.

Would make a great gift.

Made a large pot of veggie soup yesterday.

Added some fresh grated parm on top. Yummy!!!!

We got about 4 inches of snow. Hubby ran the snow blower in the early afternoon.

Then we went to the grocery store. When we came back it didn't look

like he cleared the driveway at all.

Still snowing at the time of this writing.

Happy groundhog day. I'm sure that little hog will see his shadow.

Doesn't he always?

Mixed Media Valentine Art Journal Page

I joined a mixed media swap.

The challenge was to make a Valentine themed journaling page.

The base is a sheet copy paper that was folded in half.

Only the first page has artwork.

I started out gluing book pages down on the copy paper.

Next step was to add color with distress oxide inks.

After that was dry I did a bit of stamping. The bird cage, and some script

was randomly placed.

Used a piece of paper napkin on the lower half. It was sealed with modge podge.

Used some white gesso on the lower left corner then stamped the heart, and

colored with fire brick distress oxide using a water brush.

Did a little bit of stenciling, added some ephemera, lace, pearls, key, and

the last thing I thought it needed was the

little red envelope. I embossed it first with a script folder.

Tucked in the love you tag.

Very pleased with this one. Hope my swap partner loves it as

much as I do. I don't know why but when I make stuff for swaps

I don't want to give them away! LOL

We got some snow during the night. Not much about 2 inches.

Had to ride my recumbent bike, and do my inside walking.

Today I'll be making a big pot of pinto beans. Had a ham

bone left over from the holidays that I put in the freezer.

Will be using that to season the beans.

Happy 1st day of February! Glad to have January behind us. One less

month of winter to endure.
