We took a ride on the Reading last week....did not pass go....
did not collect 200 dollars.
Okay enough of Monopoly joke.
We did take a quick trip to West Virginia last week, and
we did go to the town of Cass and got to ride on an actual steam engine train.
Course Skip had to take a selfie. His arms are long enough for these.
Front of our train. It was a 2 hour round trip up the mountain.
Pretty neat how the train switched tracks as we zigged and zagged our way up.
Sometimes the engine would be pulling us up, and sometimes it would be
pushing us up. Engine was powered by West Virginia coal.
Yup that is me sitting in car number 13. You would think they wouldn't
have a car with that number!
One of the older trains that was on display.
Look at all that black smoke coming from the train we were on.
Pot belly stove inside the depot.
Skip buying the tickets. This is a real depot. Hasn't changed much since it was first built.
Anyone still know morse code?
View from the top of the mountain.
I'm just blowing off steam!
This was at the next depot we stopped at.
Coming into the Whitaker Station.
Such a pretty view.
Stopping half way up the mountain to let another steam engine to go through.
The people from both trains were waving to each other.
This is one of the buildings at the station. They had arts and crafts
from local artists for sale. We did walk through and I was good. I didn't
buy anything. The quilts were beautiful!
Be back tomorrow with some art work. I have more photos to share to.
