Here Chick

Isn't this just a cute little card? I just love this cute chick!!! I was visiting mom at the home yesterday and I brought along a foam kit (shown on right) that had all the little pieces and parts needed to make little chicks. Mom likes to do little craft projects. These she will be giving to her aids and nurses for Easter. Anyway...while we were working on them I was thinking of what I had in my stamp room that I could use to recreate the chicks with cardstock. When I got home I had fun pulling out stuff to use. Base of the chick is made with So Saffron cardstock that was stamped with Weathered background stamp then sponged with More Mustard. The Top Note die from SU is so versatile for making many different animals. Wings are scallop punch, eyes: 3/4 circle punch for white, and eyelids, and 1/2 circle punch for pupils. Feet and beak were free cut using Bazzill orange (still had that cardstock on my desk from the weekend stamping) The egg was stamped on tan cardstock using Boarding Blue ink. Egg is from Scrappy Cat. I used some pop dots for the feet, and wings. I little piece of check brown ribbon tied around the top finished off the chick.

Funny Bunny

So I'm going through my stamp room using some supplies that I have not used or have not used in long time. One thing is flock. I bought a nice little kit of different colored flock last year or maybe the year before and have not used it. I couldn't find my heat and stick so after reading the directions on the flock I found out I could apply it with just glue. I got out my 2 way glue by SU and started to apply. I did small sections at a time on the bunny. Applied the glue added the flock and tapped it down in place with an pencil eraser. Then just tapped off the excess. Worked really well. For the egg colors I had to consult my friend Connie. The base card is orange by Bazzill papers. Love the texture on this and thought it would make a nice Springy looking card. So between me and Connie we came up with Certainly Celery, Orchid Opulence, and Barely Banana. I think those colors worked great together. Big Thanks Connie!


Both stamps used by Stampendous, Blockart Bunny, and the word stamp is the same one I used for the treat box that I posted on Friday. I used VersaMark and clear EP to add that to the card.

Now you may wonder about why I select this paper flower. Well I'll tell you when I glued the card down I discovered that I didn't cut the shimmery white cardstock evenly. It was a bit crooked on the bottom so I added the flower (that I added Stickles Crystal to) to help cover that up. Here is a pic of the card before I added the flower. You be the judge.....did I need to add it?

Recyled Tin

I found this mini muffin tin at the thrift store. I thought I was going to use it to make mini muffins, but somehow it found its way to my stamp room. I have many drawers in my stamp room as anyone will tell you. (yes lots and lots) I got to thinking all my little treasures that I've collected for stamping projects just hiding away in drawers. So lonely they must be...longing to be set free and hopefully to be used. SMILE!!!!!

So since the weather has been getting warmer, and Spring is just around the corner I got some of my odds and end treasures out and put them in the little cups. Now I have them sitting on my desk within my line of site and reach, so I'm sure they will get used now. What do you have stashed in your drawers hiding out?

Easter Treat Box

these boxes are so fun to work with! I can see making more of these for other
holidays and birthdays! The boxes are from Stampendous! They come 10 to a package and sell for 3.99 at Archivers. Inside dimensions are 2" x 7".


Designer paper by Basic Grey Wisteria. I still had the paper pack on my desk from another project so I decided to use it again. Word stamp by Stampendous! Chicken set from SU, and jelly beans by Jelly Belly :) I have lots of ribbon laying around so it wasn't hard to find ribbon for the top of the box. Don't know if I like it on there still deciding. You can cut the hanger off at the top if you choose not to use it.

Been a long work week for me........

Sarah's Art

So Sarah is redecorating a room in her home and the color scheme is Brown and Turquoise. She found these prints at Pat Catan. The prints were great but they were matted in plain creme. In comes mom to the rescue with direct to paper technique. I used Chocolate Chip and Tempting Turquoise ink and added the ink to the mats with an Ink Blending Tool from Ranger. If you don't have one of these you really need one. Great way to blend ink. The flowers Kat might remember as I think she gave them to me for Christmas one year they are made by Prima. Perfect match for the colors. and the stamp used by SU! Finest Flourishes. There is one more print to this collection I didn't stamp on that one just added the ink to the mat. Its a large print and didn't really need anything else. Sarah will be framing all the prints with dark brown frames. I can't wait to see her room once she is finished. I'm quite pleased that she selected these colors cause I love them too!

Red Hat Again

So Sarah stopped over on Sunday, and I got her to take a better pic of me in my new Cowboy Red Hat. Of course Sarah wants to jazz the hat up with a bit of purple and some type of center piece for the front of the hat. So we will see.

Earlier on Sunday we met her and Jason and went to see Alice in Wonderland. Great movie! I know it didn't get the best reviews but I think the movie was wonderfully wonderland!

Designer paper by Basic Grey Wisteria. Love those
purples! The cross was water colored using aqua painter and ink. I added some glitter to the flowers by putting some crystal stickles on some scrap paper then used a paint brush to apply it. I'd rather apply it in this manner instead of squirting it on directly. Gives it just a touch of glitter. Also used scallop boarder punch by Martha Stewart, and some sparkle ribbon by American crafts. You can just make it out in this pic on the very top of the card I used the score pal to make three score lines. I thought this added interest to the overall card.

Now That's the Way to Recycle!

So I was at the thrift store the other day (my all time favorite place to shop) and came across this little handbag. Take a good look the bag is made from recycled drink pouches. How clever is that! Of course the bag also appealed to me because it's purple with a little bit of red. Okay you know where I'm going with this. How cute to carry to a Red Hat meeting.

On the inside of the bag there are two more pouches that were sewn in for pockets. While chatting with the clerk she told me that her and her daughter had made some of these bags (not this one) a few years ago and her daughter was selling them to kids at school for 10 bucks a bag. WOW not bad for a item made from recycled drink pouches. Course buying it from the thrift store I bought my new treasure for .50 cents. Did I mention that I love the thrift store?
