Gift Bag

Taking a little mini vacation and took the day off work. I did go to my WW meeting this morning. I didn't lose, but I didn't gain either. Just maintained. Next week's meeting should be better and get the scales moving again. I had a set back with that time of the month. Which is a pain cause you ladies know how it is with the weight gain.
I made this gift bag this morning. Remember those dollar stamps I bought? You can see one of them through the window I created on this flat brown bag. I used the Couzzle to cut the circle. The outside scallop circle is done with SU scallop punch. The scallop across the top is made with the new scallop border punch. Vine is from Baroque Motifs.
Can you beleive that I'm thinking Halloween now? The craft store I go to has all the Halloween stuff out. So fun to go through. I'll be making more Halloween cards and stuff as we get into August. Don't know about the rest of you.....but I for one am ready for some cooler temps!!!
Not doing much today. Just taking it easy and battling cramps. I'm also waiting on my SU order to come in. I wasn't going to pre order all the new colors but decided at the last minute to do so. The order will be here today! YAY! And I'll have some time to play. The new SU catalogs have shipped so eagerly awaiting those. With some of the stuff I've seen so far I think it's going to be an awesome catty!!!

Busy Evening, Great Dollar Find!

I have been seeing these cute little box in a bag projects everywhere lately. I just had to try one. Way fun and easy to make. Patterned pattern is by Basic Grey. And get this....it's called Aged and Confused. Just love the name of the paper! That is the story of my life right now!!!! It's good to laugh at yourself. I used the new scallop punch to make the trim going around the bottom of the bag.

Now why was I so busy yesterday evening? I get a call from my daughter Sarah while I was driving home from work. She's at the mall and wants me to come pick her up. She was down from MI visiting her girlfriend who is going in for surgery today (you'll be find Melinda! Saying a prayer for you) Well Melinda was working at the mall till 9:30 and Sarah wanted to spend time with her mom. So I drive to pick her up, bring her home, make us some dinner. She was raving about how much weight I loss. That was great to hear!!! Then we went to the lake and walked, then back to the mall and did a little bit of shopping. So I finally got home for the night at 10 pm. Then I wanted to stamp. Go figure. I only got up at 5 am so I figure I have at least one hour left in me before I crumple to a heap on the floor. Well that one hour turned into two. So I didn't get to bed till midnight! I know I'm going to pay for it today at work. It was well worth it though. I always have fun with Sarah and since she moved to MI I don't see her as often as I would like to.

So on to the great dollar find! While we were shopping we stopped at Pat Catan's and found these awesome Halloween stamps. They were 1.00 each. These are made by See-De's.
These are just to darn cool. Course I had to get them all. I'm all set for some great Halloween projects!
Okay off to work. Hope I don't fall asleep at my desk!!!

Monday....Again! I'm not Ready!

Well I had good intentions to stamp over the weekend. Didn't happen. I made one card and that was a complete CASE from another person. I love this card that Roxy made. I changed the colors. Use Purely Pomegranate, and Groovy Guava. I love using white craft ink on the Kraft cardstock. Label punch was used for the upper right of the flower panel.
I don't know where the weekend goes, but it sure goes by quick. I worked overtime on Saturday for 4 hours. So didn't do much except grocery shopping, laundry, dinner, and more walking!
On Sunday morning I went to visit mom. Brought her some cantaloupe she really enjoyed that. Took her outside for a few walks around the nursing home. Came home, made lunch, did some much needed housework that I just couldn't put off for another minute. I also weeded the garden that we have in the back yard. I was beat by the time I finally got to bed.....So when did I make the card? This morning. I went to bed so early I got up at 5 this morning and stamped.
Okay need to run and get dressed for work. Hope everyone has a happy Monday!!!

Star Catcher

One of the things they give you at a WW meeting is a "Star Catcher" Each time you share at the meeting with a success you have made you get a bravo star. You also get a star for each 5 pounds you have lost. My little star catcher is going to be packed by the time I lose all the weight I want to lose. My leader may need to give me another one.

One of my readers Cindy had a question.......Her question was do they give you everything you need in the beginning or do you have to buy stuff as you go along. WW gives you everything you need to start your Journey. You receive a book each week, and a points tracker. The first book will help you select a plan, then you just build from there. You can buy food, scale, activity tracker and other items, but you don't need them to lose the weight.

I have another recipe share. This is for Fruit Salad. I tried it today and it is YUM

2 medium Granny Smith apples

1 cup halved seedless red grapes

1 can (11oz) mandarin orange segments, drained

1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows

1 8 oz container low-fat vanilla yogurt

zest of 1 lime

2 tablespoons chopped nuts

core and cut apples into small pieces (I cut the the peel off first)

combine apples, grapes, and oranges in medium bowl. Add the marshmallows, yogurt and lime zest. Sprinkle nuts over top. Cover and refrigerate till ready to serve

makes 12 servings.

Nutrients per serving: calories 80, total fat 1 gram, saturated fat 0, cholesterol 0 mg, carbohydrate 17 g, protein 1 g, sodium 20mg, fiber less than 1 gram.

Thanks to my buddy Lisa for sending me this great encouragement card. Love it!!! The stamp set is from See-Dee's
If you haven't left a comment for the Weight Loss Blog candy that I posted on Wednesday there is still time. Drawing is tomorrow. Good luck everyone!!!!

More Cards from Friends

More cards I received this past week. Just love the encouragement girls.! Love the cards also!
Everyone has just been keeping me going. Keep on posting those comments on the Weight Loss Blog Candy. It all helps me to stay focused.
I had to word an extra hour yesterday. Two people who normally work till 6 called off yesterday so they needed the help. Also have to work on Saturday. It's only four hours so that shouldn't be to bad. I start at 10 and get off at 2. Least I'll still be able to stay up late on Friday and sleep in Saturday morning.
I have to tell you that I discovered SHAKES! I was wondering why my weight loss wasn't much last week when I was working out like crazy. I went back over the the Healthy Guidelines and discovered that even though I was eating the correct number of point and had good activity I wasn't eating a good balance. On WW you need to get your dairy and healthy oil. I tried the WW shake packets. They are awesome!!!!! Here are two I came up with
Vanilla packet, 1/2 water, 1/2 fat free milk, 1/2 banana, 1 tsp flax seed oil, 1 tbls reduced fat peanut butter. Equals 6 points
Chocolate packet, 1 cup watermelon, 1 tsp flax seed oil, 1/2 cup milk. Equals 4 points.
Both of these are really YUM and they are wonderful for keeping me full till lunch.
I also have been getting extra fruit by blending 1 cup watermelon, 1 cup blueberries, 1 splenda packet, 1 tsp flax seed oil, and some ice cubes. I been having this as a beverage with dinner. Equals 3 points.
Okay gotta get off the computer now, and get ready for work.

Weekend Over

Wish the weekends didn't fly by so fast! I did enjoy it though! Went to see mom, did the grocery shopping, did the wash, a little bit of cleaning, stamped, walked at the lake, feed the ducks, walked some more with an excise tape I have, did I say I walked a lot? LOL

This card is from a new SU stamp set Dreams De Jour. It will be in the catalog. Other stamp used Riot of Petals. Colors, So Saffron, Close to Cocoa, Bordering Blue, Very Vanilla. Other things used, chocolate twill tape, gold brad, pop dots, aqua painter.

Here is me feeding the ducks. We have a really nice lake in Brunswick that we go to walk. If you go around the track 3 times it's just a little over a mile. There is also a trail that you can walk through the woods. Recently they just added a exercise trail. They have a bike, elliptical, and a twist machine, and there are games to play along the trail. It was meant for the kids, but hey I'm a kid at heart....I can still play hopscotch. Boy was it ever hot yesterday! Way into the 90'S. Not so hot today, going to get to the mid 80's.
Okay I need to get ready to start another work week. I just heard the coffee pot ding that it is finished. Gotta go get some joe!

Christmas in July/Got Tagged!

Sorry I've been away. Just wasn't into posting anything on the blog. Been busy visiting mom, working, and trying to stay on top of my new life style. Which means lots of walking!

I did get to play today with new stamp sets. This one is called Deer Friends. It will be in the SU catalog coming out soon. I used 4x4 coasters to make the post it note holder. Designer paper is from Basic Grey "Fruit Cake". Other colors used Old Olive, Ruby Red, Very Vanilla. I also used the new scallop border punch, and my new Bind-It-All. It's fun to use. I need to make more projects with it.

I've been tagged! By Mary Jo . Thanks bunches!
Okay here I go with 7 random facts about me.

1. I'm the baby of my family. Have and older sister Charolette, and brother Tony.
2. I wanted to learn how to play the flute when I was in the 4th grade, but the music direction ran out of them. Guess everyone wanted a light instrument to carry! LOL Anyway back then the school supplies instruments for anyone that wanted to learn. So I got to learn the violin. I was pretty good at. Was 1st chair most of the time while I was in school. Of course my brother always told me I was killing a cat when I played.
3. Mom and dad didn't let me go out or have sleep overs. My older sister did some pretty bad stuff when she was a teen, so they didn't want me to get into trouble. So.....I use to sneak out the basement window to see my boyfriend. SHHHHH don't tell my mom.
4. I got married when I was 21. Had my first child Sarah at 22. Since hubby was in the Navy he was gone a lot. Sarah was my buddy! When I would wake up scared at 3 in the morning I would wake her up to. (she was about 8 months) She kept my mind from being scared. You know first time away from home,we were living in a trailer park in SC. Not a good area.
5. I worked at a candy store when we moved back from Guam. (hubby in the service for 20yrs) Sarah, and John's friends would come to the store after school and I'd give them a piece of candy. They loved it!
6. I'm currently working at MTD. If you have a lawn mower that needs repaired I can help you! I had to learn how to take them apart and put them back together. My position is Trainer. I train all the seasonal staff as well as the full time group.
7. I can't tell you how many diets I've tried over the years. I joined WW in June and I'm doing really well! I'm shooting for 100 pounds. It's going to take me awhile, but I'm pretty darn determined
Okay now to tag some other bloggers.......
Okay gotta run. I need to go get dinner.

Oh Dear!

I got weighed in the this moring and I lost one pound. I really was working towards 2 pounds.
Just can't figure out what happened. Not cheating on the diet, walking 3 miles a day, just doesn't make sense to me. Oh well....putting this weigh in behind me and working on this week. I think I need to recheck what I'm doing (or not doing) and see if maybe I'm missing something. Maybe I'm not eating enough veggies, or drinking enough water. Will see how it goes for me next week. So hang in there with me readers.....we are going to have to hold off on the Weight Loss blog candy, and see how I do next week.

Need to work on my training class that I have to teach this Friday. Too much going on at work to have any hope of putting it together there.

I received this beautiful card today from Kat. Thank for the encouragement! I need all I can get!
Love the colors in this, and I just adore that stamp set. I think I need to bring this one out and stamp some cards with it.

Can You Say Addiction?

So I was checking my email last night and happened to glance down. In the garbage can that is next to the desk I see layers of Hershey Kisses labels, along with a few Popsicle sticks. Don't panic! Wasn't me....it was dear hubby. He is addicted to kisses, and I'm not talking about the non calorie kind. He will sit on the computer playing games and just eat one kiss after another. Can you believe this is all from one sitting? Boggles the mind. At least he doesn't offer them to me anymore. Thank goodness!!! I don't even want to know how many points are in this can!

I was so tired on Sunday after working 6 days in a row I didn't do much of anything. We did finally get out to see Journey to the Center of the Earth. Very good movie! Go see it!!!

Taking the Techno Monday Lunch Challenge with another Monkey card! Just love this little guy. Colors: Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, and Tempting Turquoise. The buttons I found at a local craft store and are made by Darice. They matched the cardstock colors perfectly!

Okay gotta run. I woke up a bit later than I normally do and need to go get dressed for work

Monkey!

I got my new stamps! Didn't have much time to play. I worked all day and found another way to add some extra steps in my day, then of course I was on the treadmill. I earned 5 activity points! I was beat! I did time just a bit of time to make this monkey card. Color is from Pure Color Pencils, and blended with Gamasol. I added the eyebrows, nose, and mouth line with SU fine point black marker. See that scallop? Yup! That was made using the new scallop edge punch. Just love it!!! So easy to use.
I have to work all day today. I was only signed up for 4 hours but the person who opens and closes on Saturday couldn't do it today so I was drafted. At least it will be a great paycheck for me with 8 hours time and a half.
When I get home hubby and me are going to Applebees, then it's off to see Journey to the Center of the Earth. Can't wait!!!!!!

Another Card!

Thanks Lisa! She sent me this very pretty encouragement card. I Believe!!!
My goal for this week is to lose 2.5 pounds. That will put me at the 20 pound mark. You know the first 10 pounds is water weight, but the rest of the pounds is fat. I'll feel real sense of accomplishment when I hit 20, plus that means another round of Weight Loss Blog Candy!
We walked around the lake at work yesterday (it's one mile up and down hills). Then I weeded our garden for 1/2 an hour, got on the treadmill and did 35 minutes, then if that wasn't enough me and hubby took a moonlight walk around the neighbourhood. He told me something that made me feel good. He said "I'm walking like I have a purpose now" That put a smile on my face.
Okay need to get ready for work. I'm so excited I get my SU pre-order stamps today. Can't wait to play with the sock monkey set, and the others that I ordered.

Swap

Well I didn't have time to stamp last night like I had planned to. After dinner we went out to Medina and just did some shopping. Did stop at Big Lots on the way home and picked up some 1.00 spools of ribbon, and some cool stamps....but that's another story.
I'm hosting a swap called Gifts Galore. Over the next few days I'll be posting more photos to show you what has been made. We have the cute little photo frame, right next to it is a very wonderful little book that was put together using the Bind-It-All, and next to that is a tin that was covered with designer paper. The tin is a great idea. You can see in the other photo that on the inside of the tin there is instant coffee pack, flavored sugar, and tea bag. Very cute idea!
Gotta run....I got up a bit late this morning and I have to get dressed for work.

Weigh In

I got weighed in this morning. I didn't lose as much as last week, but I did lose 1.5 pounds. YAY! I'm happy with that. As long as I lose I'm not going to fret over how much it was.
Now for the picture......I told you that I dyed my hair last week. It is really RED!!! Hubby says it looks orange. I love it!!! Makes me feel perky.
We are going out to Applebee's this evening for dinner. Son John's birthday is tomorrow and he has to work till 9 pm so we are taking him out to dinner today instead. Can't beleive my baby is going to be 20. Now that make me feel old!!!
I'll check in again tomorrow. Still hoping to find some time to stamp later today.

Encouragement Card

So I was chatting with my friends last week....and I suggested that wouldn't it be a great idea to make me encouragement cards. Seeing how we do the obscure cards so we have a reason to use all the stamping stuff we own this would just be one more reason to make a card. Of course I benefit more cause the cards come to me!

This one was made by Kat. Love the classic black and white. I put this one on my treadmill. I have some flowers to look at while I'm huffing and puffing, and did I mention still sweating very much from the heat!!! Thanks for the card Kat!

Today is my weigh in. I have to go to work today so I won't be able to post the weight loss results till I get home. So look for another post from me later today.

New Stamps

I did go to Archiver's on Saturday. I wasn't going to as I spent my fun money on the preview stamp sets from SU, but hey what can I do if Archiver's insists on sending me 30% off coupons? I only have so much will power and right now it's all going towards my weight loss!

Anyway......I bought this great Hero Art clear stamp set with it. Lots of birds, vines, leaves, flowers and this cute little owl. Don't know why the picture came out this way. To much light I guess I just couldn't take a decent pic of it. Not to say I didn't try....10 pics later I still wasn't happy, so this is it readers!

I have a ton of prima flowers, and do I use them......that would be no. So at least I can say I've used three of them now! I can't get over how long some of the stamps are in this set. Get a load of the looooooong vine!
Oh I forgot to share yesterday that after hubby and I took an evening walk we stayed outside and did some star gazing. You could see Saturn, and Mars to the right of the moon on Sunday night. Way cool!
One day closer to getting weighed in......hoping I lost something this week. The past two days it's been really hot. I'm dripping wet by the time I get off the treadmill. I'm sure I lost at least one pound on the garage floor.

More Obscure Holiday Cards

I received cards from Connie on Saturday.

National Pink Day 6-23

Raggedy Ann/Andy Day 6-9

Great cards! So happy with the Raggedy Ann and Andy card. My other friend Lisa chose the same day. Speaking of Ann and Andy......I found my Raggedy Ann doll that I sewed myself when I was 10. I still have her. I need to re-do her nose as the stitches are coming out. Soon as I get it fixed I'll post a pic to show you. She was hiding away in box with some of the kids baby things. I found it when I was cleaning out the crawl space last week.

The second set of cards are for July.
Cow Appreciation Day 7-15
and National Cowboy Day 7-26
It's always so much fun to receive cards in the mail. I was busy this weekend also and made my cards for July. They will be on the way this week ladies!
So back to the grind today. I was brave enough yesterday to get into my laptop and start reading my email from work. I have lots to go though, and of course no one did my job functions while I was away so I have a ton of work waiting for me. I was smart enough to plan ahead and make a tuna casserole for tonight's dinner. All I have to do is heat it up when I get home.
It's suppose to go up to 87 today. YIKES. Way to hot for me.

Vacation is Over

I can't believe this is my last day of vacation. Have to go back to work tomorrow. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
Wish I could stay home for another week. The next week I'll get is Christmas week, but I'll have a few days here and there off before Christmas rolls around.
Card is made using Pun Fun. Designer paper Blush from Basic Grey. The heart is a cut piece of cardstock that I added crushed flock to. I picked up a package of different colored flock at Archiver's a few weeks ago. I wanted to try it out. The Chocolate brads at the top are made by Darice.
I stayed up till 1 am last night. Just to say I did. Normally I am a night owl and love to stay up late when I can. Didn't do that too much during vacation. I'm been so busy and with working out I've been ready to fall asleep at 11 each night. I guess that is a good thing. You need your sleep also. I shouldn't have a hard time getting up at 5:30 tomorrow morning.
Don't know if I told you but earlier in the week I had 5 inches cut off my hair and long layers added to it. Yesterday I dyed it Spiced Tea by Natural Instincts. It's a level 2 dye, and will wash out in 24 shampoos. OMG I can't believe what I just did! Now all of you know my weight, age, and that I dye my hair. The three top things that woman just don't share with the world. LOL
Now on my today's plan......I'm going to clean up the stamp room....looks like a small storm was in there. (Karen is the storm's name), I want to clean the bathrooms, and finish cleaning the fridge. I started it last night then opted to go to sleep.
Have a great Sunday

Another Obscure Holiday Card

Ever hear of Gorgeous Granny day? It's another one of those days that made it to an obscure holiday list. Seeing how my friend Connie is going to be a grandma for a second time I thought this would be a great card to make for her. Now here is the rest of the story.....She turned 50 and didn't want nothing to do with the Red Hat Ladies. Now me on the other hand can't wait to join. 2 more years for me. I couldn't resist making this card for her seeing how she really doesn't like the purple/red thing. LOL
I used Gorgeous Granny's from See-De's, and Paisley background stamp from SU. Colors: Lavender Lace, Ruby Red, Old Olive, More Mustard, So Saffron, Creamy Caramel.
Now I know that all three people who are receiving this card this month will be saving it. I know my friends they will turn right around and send them back to me when I turn 50.

Going to see mom today. Hope she is feeling better. I can't believe my vacation is coming to an end. The days just flew by! I did get a lot done this week. Even somethings I didn't think I'd be doing.....like cleaning out our crawl space. That was not on my to do list, but it does look better, and I was able to donate lots of stuff to Good Will. So that's a good thing.

Have a great Saturday.

Baby Card

Remember a few days ago I shared a baby shower invite? Here is the card I made to send to my friend Connie's daughter Katie. I wanted to keep with the jungle theme. Stamp set is called Safari by See-De's. I just love that little elephant with his trunk up in the air. I needed to ground him, so I used a pencil to scribble a mound for him to stand on, then I went over the lines with a brown pure color pencil. Background stamp is from SU also called Safari.
Hope everyone is enjoying the 4th of July. We walked down to the high school last night and watched the Brunswick firework show. They always do there show one day before the 4th. I think they do that so if people still want to drive into Cleveland and see the larger show they can.
We did our cookout early today at about 2. Tried some grilled veggies. They came out really good. There are certain ones that need to grill longer: bell peppers, onions, and eggplant. The veggies should be on the grill till they are tender when pierced. Other ones need to only be on the grill till they are charred. Cherry tomatoes, zucchini, and mushrooms. I took a large ziplock bag and added coarse salt to it, then shook the veggies in that. It's better to use the salt as it will draw the moisture from the veggies. Now about the grill....should be at medium high. Add oil to the grill racks after the grill is heated not before. I used the tongs to hold a piece of tin foil that I coated with vegetable oil then rubbed it on the racks.
Did you know you can also grill pineapple, and peaches? These came really good! If I had been thinking I would have taken some pictures, but I was too hungry to wait!!!!
Till tomorrow

New Blog?

I wanted to post a response to my blog. I've had several people email me on starting up a new blog just for my weight loss and to share recipes. I've thought it over and I do not wish to do this. I'm so busy I barely the time now to maintain one blog. So for the time being I'll still be sharing on this blog about weight loss and other things I've learned while on this great new path I've started down.

Thanks for all your input!!!!

Wednesday's Weigh In

OMG I lost 3 more pounds!!! Total lost since 6-4 is 16 pounds. I'm feeling great! Hey we are only 4 pounds away from another blog candy give-a-way. Isn't that cool!

I want to share something that our leader read today at the meeting:

"I pledge allegiance to

myself in quest of my

weight goal....and to the

healthiness for which it

stands...one body...

under control, indisputably

with confidence in....

New Clothes for.....

Fall"!

Okay now on to artwork......

I received this great baby shower invite from my friend Connie. It's her daughter's first baby....congrats Katie.....BIG HUGS!! You will be an awesome Mom!

Love the way Connie used the Cuttlebug on designer paper. That little monkey is just adorable!!!! Katie is having a boy. The baby's room is a jungle theme, so is the shower. Way fun! Wish I could attend, but TX is just a little to far for me to get to right now.

I also received this elegant Thank You card from my friend Kat. This card is just stunning! Again I love the use of the designer paper. Black ink against the paper just makes the image pop. I'll have to ask her it those are Dew Drops on the top of the card, or if they are little plastic pieces used for flower vases.
I was bad yesterday! I ordered 158.00 from SU. It was for pre-order items from the new Fall catalog. I just couldn't help myself! Only wish I could get my order while I was still on vacation, but I know that won't happen. Can't wait to get my hands on the new scallop edge border punch and that Sock Monkey stamp set!
Okay I'm off to create some cards. Lots to do, and the vacation is half over.
