Modeling Film Butterflies with Stencils

I was playing around with stencils yesterday. 

The background butterflies were inked with distress

oxide inks. 

I also made this one. The 3d butterfly was made using modeling film. 

closer view of the butterfly. The first one was stamped over

the butterfly background. The second two were stamped

on the modeling film using Jet Black StazOn ink. They were

cut out, and attached over the base image. 

My arthritis is acting up this morning. I'm thinking I'll

take a day off from hiking, and give myself a rest. Stamping in the 

craft room comes to mind!

Torn Panel Modeling Film Butterfly

With this patterned paper panel I tore it in half on the bias. 

The bottom layer was stamped with a script stamp. I then

layered a piece of window sheet on top of it. 

The torn panel was layered over that. 

Hoping that this photo shows the window sheet. I like how

it makes the space between the torn panel shine. 

and here is a closer look at the butterfly that was done with modeling film. 

Going to the Brunswick celebration today, then later watch the firework show. 

So nice to be able to watch this from our backyard.

Modeling Film Beautiful Friend

Well I said I was done with the modeling film for awhile.....

well it's been awhile right? 

Had two panels left from the 12x12 piece of patterned paper, and

it was calling my name to put them on cards. 

 

The layer was done using Tim Holtz distress oxide inks, and the Gothic stencil. 

Here is a side view of the modeling film wings. I colored the back of the wings with

a pink sharpie marker.

Added some black pearls done the center of the butterfly to 

hide how I attached the wings with a mini staple. 

Going to stamp with Betty this afternoon. 

Haven't stamped with her for two weeks so I'm looking forward to it.

Modeling Film Unicorn

Today's card is the last (for now) one made

using modeling film. Can't tell you how much I have enjoyed

using this medium! Going to have to order some more of it.

So what do you think of this unicorn? 

Love, love, love how he turned out. 

Let's take a closer look at that horn!

I cut two narrow pieces of the modeling film and tapered it. Having

the strips larger at the bottom and tapered at the top. 

Next step was to heat both of the strips, and twist the two pieces together. 

I had to twist, then heat, twist, and heat till I got the piece completed. 

I then took a gold sharpie marker and added gold to the twisted horn. Hope

you can see this in the photo. Of course when I showed it to hubby he

said the horn was too long, and it looked more like a sword, but I like how it

turned out. 

The background piece was done using texture paste and a stencil. 

I added ink, brass spray, and pearl spray to the background after

the texture paste was dry. 

The flowers around his neck were made with a very small punch. 

I'll be back tomorrow with a little change of pace as I had to make some

baby cards.

Coloring Modeiling Film

Still not finished with the modeling film. 

After today's post I'll have one more card to show then

I'll be finished with them for a bit. 

I really love the butterflies on this paper panel. 

The butterfly was flat on the panel so I used the craft knife again

and cut out around the wings leaving the body in the center intact. 

Just wanted the wings to lift off the panel. 

Here is a side view showing how the wings are cut away from the panel. 

the modeling film was cut in the same shape then outlined with a black sharpie marker. I also colored the 

under side of the modeling film with a pink sharpie marker. You can see in the photo

that the wings on the paper are blue, and the modeling film wings are pink.

Attached the wings to the card with a mini staple, with a row of pearls to hide how it is attached. 

Used wink of Stella on the paper butterfly, and around the roses. 

 Better look at the wings.

Dragonfly with Double Modeling Film Wings

Since there are nine panels on the one sheet of 12x12 paper from stamperia

I'm still using them to make cards. 

And because I have a new found love of modeling film I'm still

working with that medium as well. 

This has to be my favorite card of the ones I've been recently making. 

I wanted the wings to be be the focal point of this card so I cut

two of them. 

The bottom set of wings I outlined with a black sharpie marker. 

The top set of wings really needed sparkle! 

To achieve that look I first inked them randomly with Versamark ink. 

Next I sprinkled on some iridescent ice embossing powder, and heat set. 

Now since I was using modeling film, and heat embossing I was 

doing to things at once. While using the heat tool to emboss I was 

also bending the wings the way I wanted them to be in the finished product. 

Both sets of wings were stapled in the middle then stapled

again over the dragonfly. In this photo you can see the layered wings. So

happy with look! As a finishing touch I added the black, and white pearls. 

To get even more "pop" on the card I used a craft knife, and 

cut out the words at the bottom of the panel. The piece was then layered

on green cardstock. I used pop dots to place the words back on the panel.

Fairy Girl using Modeling Film Wings

Okay I just have to say I'm having way to much fun creating

artwork with  modeling film! 

I'm also loving stamperia paper! Found a few sheets at Hollo's. 

The sheets are sold there for 1.15 each. The ones I got have 9 different panels. 

I'll be posting another one tomorrow that is way cool! 

Okay back to this card. 

Lovely little fairy girl. So sweet! 

I cut the modeling film in the shape of her wings. Then

heated and bent how I thought they would look the best. 

Here is a side view so you can see the wings I created. 

The wings were attached with a mini staple. I added the string of pearls, 

leaves, and rose over the staple. To finish the piece I added a few little 

pearls to her hair. 

The background was done with Tim Holtz Doily stencil using blue, 

and pink re-inkers. 

While I'm thrilled with this card the one I'll be posting tomorrow is my favorite.

Zoo Animal Sketches by Emily

Now that my friend Lisa has these art pieces I can share them.

The very talented Emily sketched both of these. 

Thanks Em! You as always did an outstanding job! 

Love the eyes on the animals so realistic.

These are going to be a baby shower gift for Lisa's daughter Jessica. 

Here are the sketches without the frames. Just beautiful! 

We had a little thunder storm last evening. I enjoyed it, but my cat

Cherokee did not. She always runs and hides. She doesn't even

like the sound of rain on the roof. Silly kitty! 

John came over yesterday afternoon to visit, pick up his mail, and do

his laundry. They were heading out to look for a washer and dryer. 

Since they have a small laundry room and hook up in there apartment they

wanted to have a set. I remember when me and hubby were just starting out, and had Sarah

we went to the laundromat to do the wash. Not that I enjoyed doing that, but I was

use to it. My mom never had a washer/dryer. We always loaded up the wash in a rolling cart

on Sunday morning and headed down to the corner laundromat. Oh the memories! 

Happy birthday to my sister Charolette. She turns 64 today. Of course I have the Beatle

song in my head....Will you still need me, will you still feed me..when I'm 64.
