Christmas in July Project 1

Welcome to Christmas in July week! Thought it would be fun to take a small break from the sun and concentrate on Christmas fun! First project is a sliding box. The new 4 Seasons Hostess set from SU fits perfectly on this cute little box.

You will need one sheet of 12x12 cardstock. Sample uses Crumb Cake. Cut the cardstock into one 3" x 12" inch piece. From the same cardstock cut a 4 7/8 x 4 7/8 square piece.

Score the long 12" piece at 1", 4", 5", 8" and 9". Fold all the score lines. Decorate the top flap part of the box as desired. I used the matching snowflake from the 4 Seasons set in Early Espresso. I also sponged all the edges of the box. Snowflake/bird image was inked with Not Quite Navy and stamped on white. Large scallop punch then used. Layered on Not Quite Navy using 2 1/2" circle punch. Use red line or other strong tape to adhere the first 1" fold the last 1" fold.

For the drawer of the box score the 4 7/8 square piece at 1 inch on all four sides. Snip one side of each corner in to the fold line. Use red line tape to fold up the drawer. I stamped the bird twice so I could pop it up on the box lid. I used this to wrap the white thread around to secure the box closed. I also used a paper piecer to put a hole on one side of the box top to attach the brad.
Used the inside lid to stamp the greeting.
Here you can see how the drawer slides out of the box.

Hope you enjoyed today's edition of Christmas in July. Come on back tomorrow for another project.
