Decorated Tin for Ceil

Safe to post this now as my friend Ceil received it as part of

her birthday gift. The tin is the same size as an Altodis can. I got lucky

as I didn't have to paint this tin just left it silver.

So you want to take a look inside?

Sorry I didn't get a full shot of all the fold out, but here is a view

of the first three panels.

Here is a view of the last three. I used Tim Hotlz dies for the tower.

I also cut a piece of patterned paper for the inside bottom of the tin.

So happy Ceil liked it!

Yesterday I kept pretty busy. Organized the small spare bedroom. What

a job that was....two hours later I hit the grocery store. We finally got

to have a late breakfast at 1:30 pm. Whew! Also got on the recumbent bike for 1/2 an

hour. Skip had to run the snow thrower in the morning as we got 3 inches of snow.

Is winter over yet?

Bubblewrap Appreciation Day

I bet you didn't know that today is Bubblewrap Appreciation day.

Show of hands...how many knew?

Just another one of those strange holidays.

Anyway today's card features some inked up bubble wrap.

I didn't have any on hand, but I did have a used padded envelope.

So I cut it apart and pushed it bubble side down into an ink pad.

Next step was to put the piece ink side down on the cardstock and rub

just a bit to transfer the ink.

If you look at the card you can see that the bubbles are blurred just a bit.

That is because I rubbed the bubble wrap when I put it on the cardstock.

I like the effect. Stamp set is retired from SU called Going Global.

I added a few stars by Tim Holtz to finish off the card.

Snow is back. JOY! No not really. I'm ready for winter to leave now.

Mailable Monday #224

Happy Monday!

Today's card was made using things from my pre-cut die cuts.

When I say pre-cut what I'm really mean is cardstock that I've

have cut using dies, or thinlits. Some times I'm in a mood to just die cut stuff.

Then I store the dies in folders, envelopes or plastic cases. Great

for when you need  a quick card.

All I did for this card was stamp the word background, adhere the die cuts,

and stamp the greeting.

I did add a few sequins. These are great for adding a bit of bling, and shine

to a card without increasing the weight or adding bulk to the envelope.

It was warmer here yesterday morning so me and hubby walked to

Marc's and got a Sunday paper. Of course I found some cool craft stuff

in there close out section. At 5 cents apiece I'm getting them! Can't beat that!

Going to share some with Betty this week as I'll be heading over to her house and

do some stamping.

Julie Nutting Valentine Tag from Freddie

Received this cute little Julie Nutting Valentine

tag in the mail yesterday from Freddie.

We were partners in a swap.

I've been keeping myself busy working on birthday gifts,

and swaps. Along with trying to de-junk my crafting space.

I've decided that the rest of the house needs to be de-junked also so.....

I'm dedicating 1/2 hour each day to go through stuff. Come June we are

going to have one massive garage sale!

So nice here yesterday. In the 50's, and so sunny. Me

and hubby went for a nice long walk in the woods. Got muddy shoes, but

it was great!

We also tried the new Hot Head Burritos place that opened up here.

Was so hot and spicy, but so wonderful!!!!!

Yesterday was the 40th anniversary of the blizzard of 78. I remember it well.

We had snow drifts along the side of the house that came 3/4 of the way up our first floor windows.

I was a senior in high school. Schools were closed. Well most everything was closed.

Took forever to clean out the driveway as dad didn't have a snow blower.

Wish I had pictures. What a mess. So I was very thankful for the sun yesterday!

Valentine Flipbag for Kathleen

Here is the flip bag I made for Kathleen's swap.

First time I ever used patterned paper to make a bag.

This one is unique as it has three pockets in the front,

then the main pocket, and last it has a stand attached to it.

Here you can see the added stand which will allow the

bag to be displayed.

This shows two of the front pockets. I added a paper gusset to allow

the pocket to expand to hold more goodies.

I really like the third pocket. It also has a gusset, and a flip that

closes like a file folder.

So I have to tell you a story.

Hubby wanted to take a walk yesterday afternoon. I didn't want

to as it was to cold. I did ask him to stop by the Red Box machine to

see if they had Geo Storm. So he comes back, and says they

didn't have that movie, but he found one I might like.

Turns out he got War for the Planet of the Apes. I haven't seen that

one so I think okay, but then he lifts up a bunch of bananas that he was

holding behind his back. He can be so funny sometimes.

Later today we are going to eat at Hot Head Burritos. It is a new place that

opened up here a few months ago. John has eaten there before and he said

the food is good.

Happy Friday!

Funny thing about this Beatle Puzzle

Remember that puzzle we started right after New Year?

It was suppose to be our winter project. I lost interest

as it was pretty hard with all those black pieces.

Hubby however was very diligent on completing it.

This was 10 days ago.

and this was 5 days ago. So do you see what the problem is?

No it is not that we still have a few more months of winter, and the puzzle is finished.

Guess again.

A little piece of Paul's eye turned up missing. Gasp!!!!!

So we began the search. Went through everything, and anything

that was around the card table that the puzzle was on. No luck.

The puzzle sat on the table for a few days, and hubby got tired of looking at it....

so by now I'm sure you have figured out what happened. Right?

You guessed it....just as soon as he broke it apart and put it back in the box

he found the missing puzzle piece. It must have fell off the table then

bounced under the leg of the Nordictrack. He offered to put the

puzzle back together again, but I just couldn't put him through that again.

So I told him we can try again next winter. Sometimes you

just have to laugh at yourself!

Valentine Memorydex Cards

These are memorydex cards I made for Kathleen's swap.

I used one of the new sets I got from JN called Lots of Love.

The paper is the Valentine pack I got at Hobby Lobby.

The little hearts on her leggins I drew with a glitter red gel pen.

Hair, and body colored with Prisma pencils.

This one I used a paper white heart doily, and added

the rose red heart over it.

Had fun with Betty yesterday did some shopping and had lunch.

The day started out warmer, but while we were out the clouds moved in.

First we had rain, then snow, back to rain. It didn't know what it wanted to do!

Suppose to warm up a little bit by Friday. What a crazy January!

Valentine Star Book

Happy Tuesday!

We had some wonderful weather here yesterday. Warm!!!!

Got up to 60. WOW. Of course now today it is going to snow.

I don't think the calendar knows that it is Winter in the Northeast!

Anyway this is a star book that I made for Kathleen's Valentine swap.

Made good use of some older retired SU stamps. Don't ask

me the names of all the sets as I'm sure I won't remember them.

I can tell you that "love" was stamped using Collage Alphabet set.

Top view of what the book looks like when open. The front and

back covers are tied with the ribbon to keep it open.

Not going to post all the pages, but here are a few of them.

I like this one.

So today I'll be going bumming with one of my favorite gal pal's Betty.

We will be hitting Tuesday Morning....(LOL going on Tuesday Morning to Tuesday Morning)

Like to also visit Old Time Pottery. After we have shopped till we drop it will be time

break for lunch.

Some of the craft room got cleaned yesterday. At least I can see my desk again, and

the carpet has been vacuumed. That's a start anyway. I see more cleaning in my future.

Shaker Birthday Card for Emily

Here is the shaker card I made for Emily's birthday.

She liked it.

While fairly easy to make I made a royal

mess out of my craft room working on it.

You see I had to pull out a few things, and find

a few things. The balloons were stamped/cut, then needed

to be ran through the Zyron machine to turn them into

stickers so I could stick them to the front of the shaker.

I thought the small sticker maker that sits out all the time would work, but

the balloons were to big, which led me to hunt and dig for the next larger

Zyron. Next I had to get out the Fuse Tool, and all the things that go with that.

Next came the beads, and sequins. So my room exploded. Emily is worth the

effort. We had a great time having an early dinner with her and her family

yesterday afternoon at Applebee's.

Here is another view of the shaker. The card inside it is a gift card for

Bam bookstore in the mall. I put a piece of white cardstock behind the shaker

just so you can see it better.

I'll be back tomorrow with some other things I've been working on.

Hopefully I'll be able to get to my desk after I get all the stuff put away.

Maybe this is just a good time to go through everything and get better organized.

Early Spring cleaning? Sure why not!

Making Valentines

Went to over to Betty's house yesterday afternoon,

and made a few Valentines. Always enjoy spending time with

her. I took photos of cards she has been working on, and I'll

post those tomorrow. To many for one post, and need to spread it out.

These are the things I made during our stamping session.

Used my Julie Nutting set "Love Day" to make this card.

Betty had a paper pack called Moonstruck and I used

one of the pieces to stamp the images. I liked the soft gray

doily design on the paper. Girl was stamped on that then I colored

her hair, shoes, and headband. The dress I stamped and cut from another

piece of paper.

Inside view.

For this one I used the heart embossing folder that came with my Gemini.

I turned the cardstock over and use the debossed image. Misc greetings

are from different Stampin'Up! sets.

The patterned paper heart was made using Spellbinders scallop hearts.

Inside view.

Now these little Valentines are cute! Betty got a good deal on the

Sixxiz thinlit at Hobby Lobby last week. She got it for 1.86. What a deal!

The heart and the inside are one piece, so the heart folds out.

These remind me of the little Valentine cards that I passed out when

I was a kid.

Be back tomorrow to share some of Betty's designs.

Journey in Collage

Went a bit collage on this card.

Everything is stamped on a piece of designer paper.

I picked up the paper last year while in TN to view the

eclipse. Purchased at AC Moore, called Nostalgia.

Stamps are by Tim Holtz called Little Things.

Jet Black Archival Ink....on a side note I love this ink!

Journey is a from a See-D's set.

I didn't do much of anything yesterday. My knee was bugging me.

Think I'm not use to riding the recumbent bike and I may have

over did it. It is way to cold to walk outside now, so I'm trying to

keep active on the bike.

Need to go to the post office today, and maybe visit the mall just to get some

walking in my day. While I'm there I think I'll stop by Starbucks for coffee....hey

it's cold out there!

Daydreams, Horses, and Runaway

Well I was in the mood to color yesterday.

The girl on the horse stamp is by Santoro titled The Runaway.

Used Jet Black StazOn ink on white cardstock, and

did the coloring with Prisma pencils.

So this reminds me of being young. Sleeping in late on Sunday

morning, curling up with a favorite stuffed animal, and day dreaming.

I used the same paper pad as yesterday's card. It's called Sunday Morning, and

one of the Hot Buys at Michael's. I like the printed panel Sunday Snuggles.

We got another 3 inches of snow yesterday. Went down to single digits last night.

Trying to just stay warm, and keep busy. Today I have to catch up on the housework.

The kitchen floor is calling my name......sweep me, mop me....can I just

go back to being a kid and having those nice daydreams of running away on a horse?

I think the bears have the right idea....just sleep winter away and

wake up in the spring.
